Microsoft changes Windows files on user PCs without permission, researchers say

Who fuck does King Billy Boy think he is?!

What I find most scary is the number of people in the comments on the article who are saying "they own the software, you ticked the EULA, stop whining". Not "this is just minor, not worth complaining about" but "you should submit because it's right and they can do this by law and you shouldn't even say anything". These people are the enemies of humanity quite frankly.

Ouch, that's just plain scary. I have XP running in a virtual machine on my Mac, and a separate laptop running Vista. The thought of MS doing things to files without my explicit consent is not pleasant. It will be interesting to see what else gets disclosed on WindowsSecrets tomorrow.

I Must admit, this quote definately made me laugh, and i do totally agree with you. if the police wanted to obtain files from a persons computer they would have to apply to a court for a warrant, yet companies like microsoft are playing around with peoples computers without them even knowing about it.

this makes me wonder whether govenment or police could obtain files from a persons computer in a stealth way just like microsoft has done. who knows what companies out their are accessing our files beneath our noses without us even knowing about it????????

Microsoft do it for our best, these files probably needed an update.
