It's official Google has opened up a can of whoop ass on directories

Wow i was planning on opening a dir but after reading this ill invest my $ elsewhere

 

Probably a smart idea

 

I think you must still invest. Directories will always help you to earn $$

 

Good move ... this forum is saturated with directoriess as it is

I just let one off my new directories open for submissions and received about
1/2 directories and 1/4 bid directories and 1/4 "Real websites" which tells
me everyone and their mother is making a directory but have no clue whats involved...


BUT Hey... what the hecks another directory amongst friends...

More likely an indication of where/how you're promoting the directory and the audience your reaching.

 

Goes to show just how much an impact this forum has.

Well like i said i just opened it and offered it at S&A for FREE with toys..

Ive noticed some were very unskilled or straight lazy (dont know how to use deep links or just blew them off all together...sheeesh) when submitting thier own "directories" and some ballsy ones even tried "gaming" <--- (Gotta luv that word ) my top categories blatantly knowing that their "Bid for position" category thats under "niche". lmao heheh and yes some made it some didnt as i picked the better ones i came across

Not understanding a basic question is one thing. A bold-faced lie is another.

Any page can rank for any term with the right anchor text and some on page text to back it up. So what? It means nothing that has anything to do with the value of bidding directories or Google's attitude toward them.

 

Dont be a looser by making sites to sell link juice to webmasters. Make something useful, concentrate on getting quality traffic to your site and build audience and readership for your site then see how you shine. Work hard on it and probably Some Corporate Giant like Google will offer you some millions or may be billions for your site too .

 

It is 0 PR, not actual PR. People buy on the hopes that the site will go PR5+

 

And of those directories the majority appear to be paid! Do free directory owners not promote or link build any more?

Hi malcolm1, I did submit to your directories, But one thing is for sure. If you launch your directories in S&A then max submissions will be from Directories. Building a directory is easy which everyone can do, But getting quality & converting traffic really makes you $$$.

Hi Aditya, I agree with you. Directory niche is getting a lot saturated like proxies, But that is where the fun lies.

 

I think its harder to get in the mindset of Work-Work-Work on your site when theirs not a direct impact to your pocketbook. If its a free dir that is...

 

Why should an attitude be bad if it's put together well. There are good web directories out there, right? Why can a bidding directory not be of quality and considered a good resource when they're selective with which sites they let in?

 

yeah i think this is somthing that is going to affect all directory owners. its something i have been expecting for a long time now. it was bound to happen
