How should I best monetize this blog?

So the blog is here,

Its about finding unique and interesting gifts. What do you think is the best way to monetize it. I should also mention That I want to provide more content before I start to monetize it, as it gets no traffic currently, as I want to have some fleshed out content before i promote it.

Hi, you are correct to build my content first. Try searching "your topic + affiliate program" in Google and you will be able to find some relevant programs to promote. You can also use Adsense but for long term, I would recommend you focusing more on affiliate programs that pay you higher commissions. Try ClickBank, CJ, etc

If you're blogging about gifts, you could be an Amazon Associate and list Amazon items too. You can try to make it blend in so it's not looking like you've got advertisements everywhere.

A lot of people have been having success with the Ebay affiliate program as well, since it is so flexible.

 

You can start Affiliate Marketing. Also try to monetize it by adding adsense.

Also make it search engine friendly. specially all those urls. Use unique meta tags for every pages.

 

Adsense to start off with but also sell advertising directly. This is as simple as setting up an advertising page. I do it and it does really well.

Amazon seems best for your blog, try out to get their affiliate program.

 

As I mentioned being an Amazon Affiliate, you could/should also use Adsense too. Between the two you could make some decent money.

I dont think adsense is good for a blog. It has negative effects infact. The primary purpose of a blog initially is to build readership. Too much adsense will kill readership. So initally you should start a blog and concentrate on getting RSS subscribers. You could post frequently , use social bookmarking and networking with other bloggers, commenting on other blogs, blog review exchanging, fighting with other bloggers and other kind of link baits. When you have enough traffic and readership, you can consider placing small amount of adsense in internal pages.

For now, stick to Review Me , TLA and AuctionAds for monetizing. You can use Adsense Only for images so that it doesnt spoil the look and take your readers away

 

Good points. I'll have to take the Adsense into consideration for my own. Maybe remove them, or atleast most of them.

TEST SEVERAL THINGS

test several positions once you find something that works

then test some more

 

Trial and error are key.

 

Thanks for all the great tips. I have to agree that adsense would really be detrimental to a blog that is looking for long term readership. I think affiliate is the way to go, although I will have to disguise the links to try to be 'impartial'.
