    the quads and duos are here to stay for some more time - they will just make a move to 45nm manufacturing process instead of the current 65nm.

    I disagree. quad procs aren't the best. they don't reach the same speed on tests as even single cores depending on the test. This is because OS aren't set up to handle the architechture and don't know how to route to 4 threads. Dual core is more useful but not all software makes use of the capabilities. 4 cores just magnify the problem of duals.

    When software starts writing to take advantage of 4x power then it will be useful, until then it's just a braggin right.

    oh god. i dont even own the duo core yet and now already got quadcore. should i wait a bit more for Pentagon Core or Duo Supercomputer core? :rolleyes:

    there might not be many softwares to fully utilize the 4 cores right now but the q6600 easily overclocks to 3.2GHz (2.4 stock) on air cooling. and with directx10 games expected to fully utilize the 4 cores, its a really good investment IMO.

    I agree it is a good investment, if you plan on making some changes in the future. On the other hand, one might expect prices on it to drop by the time it becomes more useful.
