I used to play poker on a variety of sites (Absolute, Party Poker, Pokerstars etc). I would search for an affiliate that gives you a bonus for signing up at a poker room through them and look to see if there is a bonus offer on your first deposit at a room (ie 100 per cent deposit bonus up to $500 after you pay a certain amount of rake) before deciding on whether to play at that room. I had read several poker books and studied the 2+2 forums for poker strategy, and I was breaking even/winning at low limits. My hourly rate was at about $3/per hour before bonuses and $13-20 after bonuses at the .50/1 and 1/2 tables. However, I went on tilt easily and played in higher limit games, so I lost my initial deposits. Now, I think I'll be able to remain focused and play intelligently, so I am going to start looking for +ev bonuses now.

    Hey-

I play on Full Tilt, Bodog - er, the New Bodog, Absolute, Stars, and UB.

Best rule is bankroll management. Nothing wrong with taking your shot, just be smart about it.

I also use PokerTracker and PAHUD to track my stats.

And I also subscribe to Cardplayer, Bluff and Pokerxfactor.

And I get rakeback from rakebacks.com

    Always keep learning.

    Good luck to you.

    -Adam

I disagree, I know several people who made a living from playing poker. They now make a better living with "real" jobs, but online poker is now also illegal in the United States and it's sometimes enforced, so that influenced their decisions. Poker is not all about luck. If you play a certain way against the average human opponent in an online poker room you will come out ahead in the long-run. The key is the ability to wait for good hands and then play them correctly.

I used to play on sportingbetusa before it was shut down and the CEO was arrested. It's now SuperBook, but I don't play anymore.

    Uhh, no.

I play on pokerstars. I win more than I lose, but I'm not good enough to make a living off it yet.

Yeah I am not sure what you are talking about, but I hope to see you at a table sometime. Currently I am at 3BB/100 which is decent, but I play at lower limits and only play about 500-1000 hands a week.

That said I have invested a lot into learning the game, both in time and money and if I keep on this track I will be in the money again before the New Year.

After saying all of that, I am not sure if this is really in the right place. Poker online is not really a business.....

I'm up 150,000+ so far this year from online poker. Some of my friends are making even more. Although very few people make a lot of money it's definitely possible.

While luck does play a factor in poker, in the long run its a game of skill.

Well well well , just do some logic thought dude .
In poker , it is worse than a zero-sump game , because every round there will be a small fee for the casino owner. The more you play , the more money lost.
Like forex , there are only around 5-10% winner at last. I agree that poker is a skill game , but do you really think you get more skill than the others ?

Absolutely correct. You can come out ahead if you know how to play AND you know how the other player will play their cards.

What you say is true, but there are so many fish out there that you only need minimum skills and a little discipline to over come the rack and make a profit. You don't make any money off of people with skill, you make the money from people who play any cards hoping for luck.

NO, Paypal will not transfer money to any gambling site, and as of right now they are not allowed since they are based in the US and online gambling is illegal there.
