Although i dont get them constant anyway as im still new to the game i still know that things have changed and submissions have dropped. The question is to you the owner of yours, not the top 10 or your best friends or the so called affected. Have yours too? be honest now if you lie then God knows im just kidding, but really, theres no shame in saying if they have. My point being after all the talking and arguing and everything else, it has and is affecting business. And lets be honest, were not charities, its not all for the love, we have bills and lives like eveyone else that costs money. It makes me giggle when people say its not for money, that money should be 2nd, how on earth did you find the cash to invest on promotions? Business is different right at this moment, its worrying for many, its not a free service, lets stop pretending that we do this for love. I hold my hands in the air right now and say im personally scratching my head regarding directories but im aware that it may be less to worry about than believed.
Hello... We have all suffered due to whats being going on, though yesturday many decided that they had enough and started submitting again. Like anything it will take some time for people to get back to submitting and i suggest you take this time to work on your sites while things are slow. Update: 7.9 earthquake in indian ocean again .. sunami warnings issued thx malcolm
Maybe many submitters are in the wait&see mode, until PR updates and directories penalizations settle down.
malcolm1, absolutely, i never stop working and promoting daily anyway, literally 7 days a week. rehash, what im saying though is that as a directory owner, you should know if things have dropped or not, but yes your right, people just being careful and patient.
I am still seeing lots (well for me) of submissions. I am trying to target other forums (non-directory/webmaster) types of advertising venues. I am also seeing quite a bit of home page movement, most likely due to the contest I am running. Lance
i used to get 1-3 a day, havent had any since the weekend now. Malcolm i noticed too http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/6991134.stm
Only had one submission today for my bidding directory, the rest is a zero after a robust few days ago.
The last 2 weeks have been my best by far. Frankly, I don't have an explanation for it. I even raised my regular listing review fee from $5 to $7 and it hasn't slowed submissions down. Several weeks ago I had one client submit over 20 sites, but I'm not factoring those submissions in when I say I've seen a "surge". Having said that, there is one "regular" (SEO company) who hasn't submitted for awhile now AND my BigGuide directory is relatively new so my trend may not be terribly useful. I just thought a little "bright spot" should be shared. Good luck!
"Sorry to be off topic" yes happened not long ago ( 2 hours) so a fast warning to anyone that may have family thier to call make sure thier peoples is OK.. Very nice looking directories you have also Yes the few SEOs i have always submit as they know itll blow over Have you checked your awstats/referrer stats to see where they are coming from ? thx malcolm
It's been good on my end. Last month and this month so far are the best months for me. I don't think what's going on in Google SERP or other directories reflect to the entire directory industry, at least not yet.
shutzu, its definately good to hear that. mikey1090, sincerely hope that things desirably change for you soon. pctec, i guess no change is not such a bad thing. VCTech, wishing submissions for you. dhruv37, wishing submissions for you also mauiman, very pleasing to hear, its cool to hear of others not neccessarily experiencing any change, or an actual boost at times. coolsitez, cool, its great that your doing well.
Yes Free directories will never change Submissions at one of my free directories shot up by more than 25%
submission on my free directories are huge! my review speed can never match the submission rates! but yes! on the paid directories the submission have slowed down, even those directories which are not affected are also not getting enough submission!
On my directory, which I have so far not promoted much (I'm overhauling it at the moment), I don't get many submissions but have had more in the last 2 weeks than in the three months before Makes me think I might take it all a bit more seriously...is this a good time to enter the directory business
