DP Etiquette

Hello,

I run a directory of directories and everyday see many new directories announced in the Directories section of DP.

From an etiquette point of view, is it generally OK to PM the guys announcing their directories asking them if they would like to add their directory to my directory of directories (its totally free)?

Doing so would be of benefit to the owners of the newly announced directory and boost promotion of it so they would definitely gain something from adding it and it wouldn't cost them anything.

I don't really want to post in each thread saying they can add it as I'm sure I'll be flamed for spamming threads, so PM is the only other option.

Thoughts appreciated.

Kerosene is right. Generally any attempt to advertise your own service via PM, whether free or not, is seen as spam.

 

Already done, but eventually the thread slips away unless I keep bumping it everyday which just ends up with the thread being full of my own bump posts, and if I make new threads about the same thing I'll get infractions...

 

I consider it spam. Just start a thread and if people are interested, they'll show interest within the thread or just submit on their own.

 

Heh, indeed, not so many directory owners around these parts of DP though.

Well it seems PM'ing is out of the question, so daily thread bumping seems to be the way to go.
