I rank no.2 in Google for a decently searched keyword but dont know why I dont get traffic. You can search for economical search engine optimization on Google.com

Being in the top positions does not mean you get the traffic. What appears in your description may hurt also. But most of the time, people just scans Google page and click links random, maybe more often the first 4 in G but not necessarily.

And for Google, multiply Overture by 7 or by 8 and that's the number.

sorry to be the one to break it to you but that is not a highly searched term....and overture is not very valuable to be used as keyword research as it does not use plurals and it aggregates certain words together....but you would think that someone offering SEO services would know that:rolleyes:

and stop using overture....it has not been updated since January:D

Your terms - economical search engine - do not have enough search volume to show graphs.

IMO, actually what I do is that each time I test something with overture I double check it with Google trends

When I checked the term "economical search engine optimization" in Google's Adwords Keyword Tool, it is showing 0 searches for August. Overtures has not updated its database for ages, so its useless to use that tool. Overture shows the search volume for Yahoo and Not Google. If you are looking to rank well in Google, you must use Google's tool that will atleast give u some idea if not the full data. As an SEO Company, you should know that. With a Page Rank of 4, you can target better keywords than this.

    Cheers.

Economical isn't a word that springs to mind when looking for anything other than a car for me, and for the small sample of people I've just asked.

As I would imagine you know ranking well for one key phrase isn't really going to help you especially as others have said its not well searched for.

Personally I would broaden your the terms your trying to rank for, perhaps

    affordable search engine optimization
    value search engine optimization
    cheap search engine optimization
    cost effective search engine optimization
    budget search engine optimization

I've not looked to see if these have been searched for any more than your key phrase though.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Just because a word might be nearly synonymous with others does not mean that they get anywhere near the same number of searches.

First 3 and last 3 seem to receive more traffic than the center listings...

    hmmm...

Well maybe if you targeted "keywords and Phrases" most commonly used (Use This and This)
that people actually type into the search box then the outcome would be different.;)

    thx
