Bidding on keywords and the effect on ad placement...

Hi Everyone, I started a campaign last nite. Minimum bid on the 2 keyword phrases and 1 keyword I chose were around .18 cents. This is a very targeted ad I am running in the mortgage business. I placed bids around the .25 level. Ads haven't shown any impressions yet as of today and I can't find them on the search network either, which is the only place I chose them to show. So I dont think they are even running yet. Keep in mind this is set to regional placement as in my province/state.

The interesting part of this whole bidding process is that I checked bids of $1-9 dollars max cpc and the estimated position showed 4-6. When I entered a bid of $11 , it showed 1-3. I find the range is really wide for 4-6 as its saying bid .18 cents or $9 ??? Adwords does say we have insufficient data for the regional targeting so maybe thats a problem too.

Just wondering the best way to tackle this and if necessary, what do I need to increase the bids to? Im new to this so im just wondering if i need to keep increasing the bids every day until I see the ads showing up?

    Thanks everyone.

I just checked , heres what it says...

"An ad is showing for this keyword, but it does not appear on the first page of search results.

You can boost your ad's position by increasing your bid or by optimizing your campaign. Learn about optimization"

guess I have to start raising the bids??? i just checked the keyword and keyword phrase in google search and my ad doesnt show up anywhere in the sponsored links , theres about 6 pages of SL's on google.

Odds are, yes. Mortgage is pretty competitive and I had feeling your ad would be in low position with .25 bid.

No prob - go slow and make sure you have daily budget caps in place you can live with. Sometimes when things start moving they move quick and you can burn through some serious $$$ while you're sleeping:) Good luck.
