Sponsor Wordpress Theme

I want to be a sponsor for Wordpress Theme
How can I choose right Theme?
What important things have I to check?

I have noticed that dark themes, like dark browns, blacks, blues, reds get the most downloads. I have tried this myself with personal themes and I got around 35% more downloads than any themes that have a light look to them. But its just a opinion.

 

I like dark themes too!

Slightly off-topic, how does this \"sponsoring themes\" work?

 

You buy a sponsorship, your link goes in the footer of the theme. When someone dloads the theme and puts in on there site you get a free backlink. I have gotten several hundred backlinks from one theme, and these were pr3-pr5 links!

 

what is the footer protection?

 

Footer protection is when the author encrypts the php code in the footer to make it hard for people to remove the footer links. If you are going to sponsor a theme make sure it has this.

 

Well its supposed to scare people from taking the links off the bottom, but in reality legally if its free they have the right to take it off if they want to. They cannot tell you to keep it there legally unless they have the skin copyrighted which then it would not be free.

Be careful with this.. Google is starting to get a little tough on this as a form of link spam. I will try to look up the article I was reading about this last week.

same here , dark themes work really well. Though i dont use them , but my friends get good results with them .
