I'd go with a fainting goat, I'll keep you amused for hours on end.

I'll vote for a cat. They can help hunting unwanted pet like a mouse.

A pet rock! You're kidding me right! I am sure I heard that term before.

You know when I was a kid I always seen adverts for seahorses. The advert said you just open the pack , pop the contents in a bowl of water and seahorses would grow. Because I was in South Africa I had no way of buying it so that was it for my childhood dream. Now that I am big perhaps I should try it out. Does anybody know if those things work.

I think they work but I don't think they live very long. I would subject getting a talking birdi they are cool to have around but can get messy. As any living animal will have to deal with their poop:).

You could go to the shelter and get a cat. You should play with it (especially if it's a kitten), but they need a lot less attention than a dog. E.g., you don't have to take it for a walk, or in some cases, even litter box train it.

You should check the apartment policies. Many landlords do not allow pets of any kind, even fish. If they do allow it, you may have to pay higher rent, forgo your security deposit, sign a waiver, or all of the above!

My word! I didn't realise that. Thank you for telling me. I am sure they are justified in doing this to some extent especially with dogs as they can be troublesome, but cats and fish! That's something else. Perhaps they are just wanting to suck more money out of you.
