Hey guys...I am looking to maybe switch from PHPBB to something else...
    My three choices are:
    1 - Next BBS
    2 - My BB
    3 - PHPBB

Can you guys offer me up some goods suggestions and thoughts about these three free Bulletin Board software packages? So far I am really considering MyBB.

    Thanks

Out of the 3 - phpbb is the best because of lots of themes and mods.

I'd recommend MYBB. I've tried a few over the last few years, and it's been my favorite hands down.

PHPBB is the only one of those that I have tried, so i would say go with that one.

That is also what I was thinking....I used forummatrix.org to compare the 3 and myBB seems like the best choice, but I am still a little worried about security issues.....Any one know anything about security?

I haven't had any security problems using them personally, but that's all I can really say about the issue. Even though they're one of the newer ones, I find they're really great about helping you out (had someone there help me with a domain change / migration issue today when moving a forum actually), and they do have a pretty nice selection of mods and plugins. My only complaint is that I can't stand either of their available reputation systems.

I would agree that phpbb is the best out of them 3, but if you had vbulletin in that list then it would be vbulletin without a doubt.

Thanks to everyone who helped me decide....I went with MYBB as per jhmattern's suggestion....I like the features it offers and the fact that it is threaded unlike PHPBB....

But everyone else who checks out this forum, you should got to www.forummatrix.org It is a really good tool for helping you make a solid decision
