I was wondering if pre paid visa or mastercard credit cards work with pay pal. I want to start selling with pay pal however currently can not get a bank account or a credit card. Can a pre paid credit card work to verify my account, add funds from my pay pal account to the card? Would there be a way I could get the cash from the card with out purchasing anything? Also, Does anyone know of a Pre Paid Card I can use and pay for at a retail chain? Thanks for the help.
prepaid credit cards are commonly know as virtual credit cards or vcc. they are workable offcourse but you have to add them to paypal within 1 day of purchase.
That´s not correct. Of course VCCs are also a type of prepaid credit card (although prepaid CREDIT CARD doesn´t make any sense because you don´t get any credit, but I know these are called prepaid credit cards and not prepaid debit cards). But there are also unlimited physical prepaid credit cards available, mostly in the US. Here are some examples: www.greendotonline.com www.rushcard.com www.netspend.com (these were examples for US prepaid credit cards) www.mycashplus.co.uk (UK example) www.prepayedge.ca (CA example) There exist MANY MORE prepaid credit cards There exist also VISA and Mastercard Giftcards, these are cards with a one-time funded amount in them. You can´t say all of them work for PayPal, some are denied by the system. About adding VCCs within 24hours: this is also not correct. This may be the case for most of the VCCs sold here as most of them are generated from HDFC accounts (correct my please if I´m wrong). But there exist many other VCCs which have validity of 1 to 2 years, are reloadable etc. Hope this helps a bit kind regards
I use them all the time and I can tell you they are perfectly safe. This is how it works. You register for ur account. The company will send you a magnetic card. (Not a credit card) You then go to an outlet and top up ur account with some cash and you also pay a standard fee. The outlet will swipe your card in their machine and give you a receipt with a voucher number, (same as credit card number,) and the amount of the voucher. You will then immediately get an sms or email, with the expiry date and ccv number. This voucher only lasts two months after which it expires nd any unspent funds must be reclaimed by you. Because you can decide how much money you want to load into your account the risk is minimal and in fact some people with proper credit cards opt for prepaid credit cards since it is considered to be safer.
Yeah, I was actually thinking about it, but I see theres a monthly fee just like debit cards, at least for the places I checked at.. But still very useful depends on what you wanna use it for I guess.
Beware of those VCC issued from the HDFC card because technically it is against the bank's policy for the card holder to distribute the VCC numbers for anyone else to use. They are meant exclusively for the bank card holder's usage and no one else.
