I don´t know if this could be interesting to anyone but I give you here a short instruction how to apply for a UK bank account as non-UK citizen. At first go to this link:

    http://www.citibank.co.uk/personal/...ts/currentaccounts/sterling/accessaccount.htm

    click in sing up

then select what kind of account u want solo or joint account it's up to u :)

    select the Citibank Access Account

in the bottom of the page select the type of Citibank Alerting Service

Free Citibank Standard Altering Service and click in procced

in the next page fill the form with ur personal informations anb click in procced

in the next page sellect the Source of Income if self-employed pick others and write self-employed in the Other source of income, please specify fild

in the next page u have to give the intended use of the account

and number of transactions , for the number of transactions try to give a trusted numbers to be in safe.

in the next page he will ask u : Where did you hear about us? .....lol say by internet for example ... :)
    click in procced

in the next page pick the two radio bottons and click in submit online and you're donne!

after couple days u will recieve a mail package with ur form of application signe it and date it and send it back with a copy of ur passport and a A cheque drawn on your personal account , payable to yourself for a minimum of £1 or ecuvalant in EUR or $ for your opening deposit and u will recieve a guide with the package.

I hope anyone has a need for this and I could help a bit.

    Kind regards

What you mean with it? This is an absolutely 100% legit application for an account. What should be illegal with it? I don´t get what you mean

It sounds totally legal, otherwise, citibank wouldn't ask for a copy of your passport and they wouldn't send you the info directly to your address, which is obviously not in the UK. In other words, if they expected you to be local, they'd ask for some identifying UK info.

007A, I'm fairly sure it means you have to have an existing bank account and you send a check from that account to your UK citibank account.

'Aliens' is a US legal term to describe legal and illegal immigrant status. I not believe the term 'aliens' is used in the UK to describe immigrant status. In Canada they would be called landed immigrants (legal status) and illegal immigrants. Non US residents find the term 'aliens' amusing. :)

Thanks for this. I only knew this from US bank accounts (you find many if you search for us-bank account for aliens) and as their was not enough space for "non-uk-residents" I just used this too.

What the use of a bank account is?!?! Maybe there are people (let´s say Indians) and they have a merchant. And they have UK customers. So the UK customers can pay directly into this account without any big fees. I think that´s the use for it. I don´t know what you are doing with a bank account but that´s the use for it normally.

    regards
