I am thinking of switching to vbulletin but I need to know for SURE that somebody can take the phpbb database and move it to vbulletin and then redirect all phpbb urls to the appropriate vbulletin urls. The forums will remain on the subdomain where they are now so you must be good at this an know what you are doing. If you qualify to the above please PM me.
this can be done, also if u have some experience u can do it your own. As a licensed member of vb u can download the converter for free on their homepage
I just don't want to buy it and then realize it can't be done lol Hmm didn't see the converter before, that may be just what I need.
One last question... my phpbb forum uses some mod rewrites and redirects to make the urls sef, will this be a problem with vbulletins ImpEx tool?
you could remove the mod and then convert to avoid problems. there is also a redirector in vbulletin which works excellent. i use it my own.
The problem is the mod creates a set of pages, actually mod rewrote pages. I need to have those pages redirected to the vbulletin pages, I can't just have duplicates. Everything must work with vbulletin... for instance this isa phpbb url: /site-navigation-t308.html I want it to be functional once vbulletin is installed too.
I think I have been misunderstood... what I want is to convert my phpbb forum(forums.1stsearchenginerankings.com) to vbulletin... this mens it will be under the same subdomain and all posts, threads, boards and url structure remain the same. If anyone can do this please PM me.
I guess this is harder to find than I figured on... if anyone can do this please PM and name your price....
vBulletin and PHPBB url structure is totally different, your best bet is to find someone for data entry and ask them to create 301 redirects for each post/thread etc. As for SEO urls, you have the option of zoints(free) or vbseo(paid), vbseo is much less buggier than zoints.
No thats not what I mean... I mod rewrote from the dynamic phpbb urls to static html urls and now I want to goto vbulletin I want both the static versions and the dynamic to still 301 to the vbulletin appropriate pages.
Yes for the data entry that is what I meant... I am discussing two differentroads here so I am even confusing myself
Vbulletin is installed now... I sitll need my phpbb urls redirected to the vbulletin urls... the databases have been moved so the threads, users etc are all there I just need everything redirected... please pm asap if you can do this
