Too late to go for a social networking service?

    Hey Guys,

I was thinking on starting a social networking service. Something really huge with multilanguage, amazing custom design and code, etc.

I have a USD25k budget for marketing, the rest is already done. (Also grabbed a totally amazing domain name)

Do you think something like that can still be successful or is it already too late?

If you manage to market it right, and have something unique to your site, why not.

I think you can make it big if you market it right.

The site will probably be launched in January next year.

We already paid 15k for development, 5k for design and management.

We are now seeking for investors to extend our marketing budget.

Please let me know if anyone is interested in investing in our company ;)

Of course it is. People want to use things that are more interesting than older ones. If you think you can offer something more interesting than those big guys out there then do it.

Its not too late.. people always want something new to come along.
First it was Myspace now its Facebook. Just make sure you offer something that previous social networking sites didn't offer. :)

You can build a free networking site at ning.com. Maybe you can save that $15K.

I also think it is too late. had you put this plan into action and launched the site this time last year, you MAY have had a better chance, but right now, the market is too saturated.

My advice, come up with a TOTALLY new idea and concept. like youtube did, like ebay did, like myspace did etc etc

Unless if you have something different to offer, I wouldn't bother. Otherwise the competition is way too numerous.

You already spend 20k on the site and now asking that question? just for the fact you're asking such a question at this stage prove to me that your site will most likely fail. If you don't have confidence in your product, who will?

that is lot of money with kind of competition around it will be difficult, though if you get good investors to fund enough money for marketing you can just get through, but initial phase is gonna be very tough.

Its all relative- how much time do you have and how many people are going to help? If you like to work and have help, should be a cinch.

If you offer something different or even if it is similar but marketed well, it can still draw excellent traffic.

Never "Too Late" if you your service more useful and better from the competitors, but it's not easy to beat the competitors and need hard works
