I like Vista as much as I like XP. Don't have any problems with it. But thanks anyway for the info.

I'm sure they will extend the support because a lot of corporate clients are still using WinXP, Win2000 and won't switch to Vista anytime soon.

Hardcore gamer? I think you flatter yourself. Play any of the latest games? Heard of DirectX 10? Did you know XP is not compatible with DirectX 10? So what games will you play on ME? Duke Nukem III?
Nevermind that, there's still companies using Windows NT 4.0! But support for Win2000 is gone! Supporting an OS that is no longer on sale has absolutely no benefit to MS.

This is ridiculous! Microsoft expect us to buy a new computer a year just so we can shell out huge amounts of money for their next bloated OS. Way to screw the few users who actually bought Vista.

I am going to continue to use XP even after it becomes unsupported.

Actually, I believe there will be a limited version for DirectX 10 for XP. Anyway, most games still run fine on XP.

Remember also that this isn't the end of support for XP, Microsoft are merely going to stop selling licenses to install on new computers.

I have heard however that XP will get support a few next years at least. Pretty surprised.

I agree. Instead of forcing manufacturers and businesses to modify their products to work with Vista within a few months, they should wait until 2010.

XP shouldn't be retired at such an early date; when XP first came out very few people upgraded to it, instead they stuck with Windows 98 or 2000. As far as I've seen people who aren't that interested in having the latest OS and having the coolest looking desktop have kept on with XP and will do for quite some time. People don't want to have to get an entirely new PC just to be able to support the latest OS, let's face it there's no point in Vista without the graphics and all the mod-cons turned on so the Vista Home Basic thing is just a load of tripe.

With regards to Windows 7, it'll be interesting to see what Microsoft pulls out of the bag after Vista.

Yeah, the company I work for (and many, many others) are having a problem devoting resources to simply getting their hardware and software to run on a Vista machine.

It take money and time away from other projects and current bug issues.

You are just criticising Vista because you're not in a position to get or can't afford it. Try it man, it really works better than Xp or your &*(^#&$ Linux(es).

im not criticizing Vista not just because im can't afford it, but to be honest it not worthy to have it for a computer geek like me..i need to upgrade my computer too much in order to get the "real" benefit from it...

I wish i can have Vista once i got the powerful laptop soon, but im very happy with XP.. :)

No, I am sticking with XP, Microsoft suck because they are trying to force people to upgrade. I have paid for XP, i'm sticking with XP, I don't care if support ends, it's not like I need it anymore anyway. I bought my license for an unlimited amount of time, so why should I be forced to upgrade. I used vista for 3 months and it SUCKS, yes SUCKS. It's already selling for £100 on ebay, so just what does that say ?

I kinda like Vista, installed it on my Girlfriends PC and I'm quite impressed. I myself will be sticking to OS X though.
