    If you are stupid enough to try and pay an editor then you will only get what you deserve. If an editor threatens to remove your site report it. There is zero tolerance for this type of crap.

    That there is a large body of editors accepting payment for listing, its a myth. There are multiple ways that such editors (and sites) can be detected. There are multiple tools that those who manage the community have available that make it very easy to detect this sort of dishonesty.

    Every report, allegation, or even hint of abuse is investigated thoroughly.

    If editors try to cheat the system they will be removed. If webmasters try and cheat the system their site(s) will be banned

    Which guidelines for the ODP discuss SE manipulation? And if policies such as this are in place, why then are over a thousand categories listing TOPIX links still?

    I know that it is there for the end user and not the webmaster (even though the end user IS the webmaster) there is still very little if any talk within the official guidelines about such matters as SEO, especially when dealing with manipulation and the like.

    LoL... like how they have key loggers installed on all the editors computers so they can track emails and IM messages...or maybe it's how they monitor all US banking institutions so to look for jumps in income prior to any submission :rolleyes:

    Yeah, some times I think I'd question a few links, but tools? Yeah, right...

    Likely none. What kind of drugs are you on?

    There are several instances of high PR pages within the ODP linking to PR0 pages out there in the world wide web...some of those links being listed for years.

    There are also several instances so a distinct lack of any type of traffic coming from DMOZ (or it's clones)

    So if you are not getting traffic, and you are not getting PR, then what is the worth?

    You're right they only discourage it...

    You can always sell it as DMOZ listed domain in buy & sell section of this forum. :D

    Why not get a listing? It is so cheap now since the editors have started to sell at wholesale prices. I think I saw $50 for a DMOZ listing which is not bad compared to yahoo price. :D

    We don't want webmasters, we only care about end users, webmasters are just pests that disturb us but God forbid if they start to think that DMOZ link has no value. :rolleyes:

    Still trying to drum up some business? :D

    There are some interesting jumps gaps in the logic of your statements too Julian.

    1)You say that it obvious that the most of the senior editors are corrupt, including me.
    2)You claim you are a big shot editall and use your position to gather damning evidence against those corrupt editors.
    3)When asked why you do not pass the evidence on to someone who can do anything about it you say you are too scared to and refer everyone to statement 1).

    If one were to look at these statements there are three possibility that are supported

    a) You are a liar
    b) You are a coward
    c) That you are both.

    I would like to believe c) that you are both a sniveling coward and a lair, but I think that preponderance of evidence supports a) And as usual Julian, I mean this in the nicest possible way.

    Are you trying to say that you do believe it? That DMOZ is nothing but a tool for the SEOer? That the traffic flow through the directory is really something to bother with?

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=3643449&postcount=44 (there were other posts with live links, but *shrug* look'em up urself)

    Now, show me a sign of traffic through DMOZ to another site, and I'll show you an editor checking to see if the site is related to Shoemoney in some way with their special "paid links detector" (lol).

    And the Alexa rating does not count....the two sites are interlinked so the numbers are even more bloated then most sites.

    I think everyone can see how worried you get when people start talking about DMOZ link having no special value. The rest is just your usual BS that even a blind man can see through it. :D

    I can see a strawman argument in formation here. You really know know your logical fallacies dont you?.

    You don't really want me to point out why those pages have given pr=0. Do you? Are you being deliberately dense?
    I am not claiming that signifcant amounts of traffic comes from dmoz.org. I have never said that. ODP does not claim that. Thats never been the puprpose of the ODP. I have heard some webmasters say they get traffic but they are certainly exceptions to the rule. Whats ya point?

    It's simple and free, I really don't understand the confusion. Free meaning $350 and simple being a corrupt editor. Corrupt meaning any.

    It's like Soviet Russia in Directory form.:D

    Guide;

    free=$350
    simple=corruption
    corrupt editor=editor

    Could it possibly be to accurately refute your claims of link worth?

    My argument on all points is valid. Visit the sites, and tell me the worth of their DMOZ link, and if there is reason for them to not have PR, then maybe there is cause to not have them listed in DMOZ, as it should be apparent they are not benefiting the end user (which is supposed to be the worth of a DMOZ link).

    I have not used your strawman tactic. If you look, you did a good enough job setting yourself up.

    In that link dearest helleborine comes up with the theory that the value of a dmoz link might actually be ZERO based on the fact that some ODP listed sites have zero PR in their directory. And she has looked those sites and SHE can't see why Google would penalize them.

    Well assuming that helleborine is able to have a quick look at a site and determine that it is kosher and Google wouldn't apply a penalty to it then the story may be valid. But if hellebourne is not the all seeing google guru with their algorithms wall papered over her room then the theory becomes decidedly shaky.

    Anyhow as I keep telling you that I am not here to defend anything. As far as google rankings go a dmoz link may be as effective as flushing a piece of paper with a URL written on it down the toilet. Or it might have a huge effect. Of it might be somewhere between the two.

    The question was How to get listed, then kinda fell into what was the worth of having it listed. So it's clear you are not here to answer questions or help threads along either.

    Though from reading your posts on worth, you seem to think that a DMOZ link's PR value is someplace around the crapper, and that traffic in most cases amounts to the editor checking the site.

    So I'm thinking there may be a point in the topic sliding from HOW to WHY.

    With your lips firmly glued to "senior" editors back, I hardly doubt anyone can do that. :D

    Don't believe everything that nebuchadrezzar and company tell you. The market on DMOZ listings has crashed, you can buy one now for only $50. :D

    Buy DMOZ listing for $50.
