Thats just my opinion, i just want to know if anyone agrees with me on this. Now that Google has started penalizing directories and also bans sites who "pay" for links. Where does the future of Link Bidding Directories go ? I was thinking of starting one, but now i think i will wait till the air is clear.
Well if it's your opinion why didn't you say so in the title? Another attention-seeking, sensationalising, post with no effort made to research the subject properly and no consideration for the people whose businesses you are spreading false rumours about.
wow 3 Red Reps, in 10 minutes, what else can go wrong ? I stand my ground on my opinion though, i just wanted to know what do you guys think... Considering all the ranting thats going on about google delisting popular directory sites and paying for links strongly being opposed by Google. Apologies on the misleading title though, i request mods to please change the title. Peace.
Im sorry im the one with the long sentence probably I dont think you understand... your new and coming here opening "provocative threads" to say the least.. Be respectful and do it within other similer threads as we have enough poorly titled threads and dont need more. Learn to look before you cross the street son ... thx malcolm
Get a grip - show me one piece of definitive evidence from Google that says that they "bans sites who "pay" for links"
Don't let the red reps sway your opinion. Your entitled to what you think and how you feel regardless of what other's here think or say. For the record...I am of the same opinion as you...and for the record..I could care less whom red reps me for saying so. To the point and to answer your original post: the sites you mentioned haven't been "de-listed" so as the term would indicate. If anything, they may have suffered a penalty from G. As for the bidding directories...yes, lot of folks here have them and have made a small fortune from them..thus they will strongly defend the percieved value of these link farm/link pimp sites. There has already been a shot fired across the bow of these sites and others for obvious reasons. If folks refuse to see the future and/or refuse to acknowledge that they have been warned by G. for the less than shady tactics...these sites will pay for their lack of adherence...at least under Googles watch. Keep your head up and don't let the clan folks here get you down. As one red repper here said to me the other day as he/she spinelessly left me an anonymous red rep..."the world is not caving in". I however feel different for some of the folks here. The world might not be caving in for all of us...but it will surely change for some. tom
Nice post Tom. Could you do me a favor and rent THE GODFATHER it seems appropriate for times like this.
Thanks on supporting my stand, some of you guys. Well, i just read few hours back from dirsensei and even checked the fact that : Aviva directory is not on the google search even for its own keyword Just felt i should be cautious before i start my own link bidding site, and ask for the opinion from the SEO gurus here, no harm intended.
You shouldn't really look at what Google does right now but use your own judgement. I remember some of the most successful web directories out there being banned for sometime before shooting up to major success. If you believe you can build a quality web directory and list websites based on highest bids, then go for it. If you're looking for a free ride and someone taking you by the hand and make you money, then maybe you should ask yourself what you can offer that is unique to the web community and then of course ultimately profit from. Mike
I don't profess to be a guru of anything let alone SEO.....I do however have common sense and can read between the lines. You should read some of the very recent, VERY long posts/bitch fests on here about what has been happening with a few of the more well known directories...including the one you mentioned. This is what I am referring to when I say "a shot across the bow". There are several references outside of DP that will explain a bit about what is real or percieved on the situation. I believe Popo posted a thread on his site that is very informative and insightful. LIke I said...the bid directories have made folks a bit of $$ so you can't fault them for standing up and defending them. I would too I guess....but ethics and principle have to come into play somewhere. tom
And you are smart enough to find out Avvia directory is a bidding directory? First find out what is bidding directory and what is general directory and what is niche directory. Than come back and post here.
That i was not aware off... Well the more posts the higher it goes up in rankings so the more publicity it gets ... I think most have accepted the fact that its "poorly labeled" and does nothing but add more dirt on the industry as a whole... In the future please find better "titles" when asking questions.;.. PS that was my last post... see ya thx malcolm
And you are smart enough to spell Aviva Directory wrong. Look who's talking. Link directories are being penalized, wouldnt Google react in a much more stringent way towards "Paid" Bidding directories ? I guess everybody's so intent on proving me wrong here, u wanna join the bandwagon, and pick up anything to argue about. Think and post. My question is not about what is a bidding directory. Dont post just to increase your post count.
@domainsurfer Tom (wildweb) is a good adviser you might have to listen to him that there are more resources to research before putting up a directory. Something I can give that I have learned from a person recently. Creators of a new directory should make a research of what he intends to put up. If your targetting pet supplies and accessories make sure that you make a nice content of your target audience in order to make an impression. Same goes to the application in General.
