Reading at the comments on http://www.johnchow.com/this-blog-directory-is-alive/#comments It seems people know too less about directories and their quality.
When marketing tactics and strategies are applied the traffic is arguably more important than the text write up
No offense here and no pun intended. You mean you just jump into conclusion by your own without thinking ? Why ? So do we go back to the equation that even though a telephone directory of blank pages is worthwhile and can be delivered at home just because it is owned and marketed by your national phone company would you find it useful ? Just a friendly discussion
First Off :: PEACE :: Now, IMO : A Directory which gets good amount of submissions daily and the owner is able to make handful $$ from ads (which comes from traffic of course) and is linked to every major SE and High Traffic Sites is considered as a GOOD DIRECTORY. Hope this clears the air among all of us :: PEACE ::
Quality = Alive and Aviva! Hope you got it! alive and aviva are the definition of quality! compare any directory to these two, and you will understand what quality means and why are these directories better than the rest regards, Uttoransen!
No offence from me too - love to discuss with you That's not only my opinion... I see lots and lots of people telling that "alive directory" is a quality web directory... Also Alive is an authority site. And that's why I concluded that Alive is a quality directory. Ofcourse alive blog directory can't be called a quality directory as it doesn't have many listings.. You being an ex-dmoz editor - would like to know the definition of "quality" from you.
hmm i dont know ... must have some criteria to rank. Otherwise everydirectory is a quality directory.
I was referring to the JC site having more traffic and as for the JC write up I would consider that there traffic results speak for volumes for their marketing techniques and strategies. I assume that is why the site is very busy Only my feel for how they operate
All I see in the comments box are a bunch of morons who know nuts about Chris, Alive Directory, or for that matter, web directories in general. They are so dumb that they don't even know that the number next to the categories listing is the number of sub-categories below the categories, not the amount of links. And I can't even understand how these people can get away with such inane comments about paid versus free directories, etc. Let's put it this way: n000bs.....
yes! you are absolutely correct! that guy charges about 400$ for the reviews and don't even know a thing about phpld! dosenot even know the difference about category and links i think he should have gone though the directory carefully before writing that review, if the blog writer is so careless, then his readers have got right to be noobs
@Uttoransen I won't go in there anymore as I don't want this to be a hitting festival. @meethere One of the the reasons I add site is to gather more informative content to that certain category and at the same time rank for its keywords and its audience. Surf Books Instead of forcing your way you are generating natural presence of the listings you make. One Tip.
To me, IMVHO, a quality directory does not matter what sites you have that you are linking to. It does not matter if you are a general, niche, or adult directory since there are markets that meet everyones interest. So to me, a quality directory is one that gets repeat visitors. This means you are offering quality to those people and they return to see more of what you have to offer. Thanks.
Some of the factors I consider when determining a directory's quality are here: http://www.quantawebdesign.com/tips/directory-quality.html cheers ~ Denise
Everyone has their own idea of quality. Just because I consider my dir a quality one, many others will think its crap. By the same token, a well established dir might turn me off for any number of reasons and I might think it is of lesser quality than some other. One thing is for sure, anyone who takes their dir seriously will consider it as having quality.
