Western Union or Xoom?

HI,

I just want to know which the best preferable method to receive money in India?

I am currently using Xoom and very comfortable with this but just want to know what others are thinking and using?

I use western union in Pakistan... haven't heard about xoom.

I am happy with western union but have heard that they are expensive ( their fees) but I am happy with the service

 

in terms of fees, xoom is much better than western union but on the service they are both the same and reliable

I always prefer WU coz never faced any problem and never heard a transaction failure like I see about Xoom here.

 

Xoom is the best for Indians. its fast and safe. I've heard WU has higher fees.

 

Xoom if your sending money from Paypal
WU if your sending money in terms of Travelers Cheque or wire transferring it.

 

westernunion has much bigger network. i belong to a country where xoom is not available.

 

Another way of recieving money for example is through Card-to-Card transfer between 2 VMI cards for example. If a relative want´s to send you money they can just do it with VMI, it´s only 3$ and VMI cards are available to almost all countries. Of course this is nothing to recieve payments from anyone as probably the other party won´t have a VMI, but it´s a good way to save money if you have to send money to relatives abroad on regular base. It´s instant, very cheap compared to services like WU and XOOM and you can cash out the money at almost any ATM worldwide.

 

xoom is best because of it's fee.
and WU is best because of it's service.

Just to add information, XOOM was available to Pakistan in late 2005 / early 2006 .. and due to some unknown (well, known) reasons they stop functioning in Pakistan.

 

Just one question, I am from India, How do i receive money from Xoom.

Do they do ICICI bank deposits Or make a standard cheque ?

 

Xoom is the best for transferring money to india,it takes very less service charge as compared to Western Union and make bank deposits to any bank that also within 10 days and in most of cased it takes 3-4 business days max and your money is completely safe with XOOM.
$8service charge for sending money below $500
$14 service charge for sending money above $500 and below $1000

You can choose any of the option but deposit in ICICI bank is the best option.You will get your money in your account within 3-4 business days
