    Pavarotti did two things, to me:

    He continued a lineage that can be traced to Caruso - the mastery of technique married to a volcanic soul. He was an artist, plain and simple.

    Secondly, he brought this work to many who would never have come to it, very likely, without his desire to make it known. He is to be lauded for this.

    Here, here, a supreme talent he reached into the hearts of both the rich and poor, and by sharing his once in a generation voice he gave pleasure and joy to millions, for sure he will never be forgotten :cool:

    That voice is scintillating and lives on for ever :D
