Hahahha. Wow - my feelings are hurt. Uh, my bombast was a joke, son, an irony. Since you got worked up to such fever pitch over "hmm?" I figured, what the hell, I'll write a mouthful, and make it purple for laughs. Guess it worked.

Now, if you'll go to your much-vaunted online dictionary, look up "stereotype," toss in your "Mexicans" for context, and then think on the meaning of "racism," as defined by your resource, you might see the irony that prompted my mildly amused original post. Or not.

You see, basically, you made in the same sentence an impossible construction:

    1. Mexicans have done something "bad," in your mind;
    2. Such a view "may be stereotypical" - i.e., these instances you are freaked about "may be" emblematic of the larger group; in other words, by your own word, such a view - Mexicans have done something "bad" - "may be" typical for the folks, the ethnic or national group, "Mexicans"; and yet,
    3. This ain't racism.

Here, from your rant, dictionary.com's definition of racism (among many):

Now, I don't know about you, but "bad" implies a judgment regarding superior and inferior. In other words, the "bad thing" these folks do is typical of their kind, an indication of their relatively inferior moral quality. Hence, you can't stereotype a people as doing some bad thing without at the same time making a racist viewpoint.

I think if you check in with some folks on this board - Lorien, Will, Gtech, many others from "across the aisle" from me, they'd likely tell you that I am usually a reasonable enough fellow to debate, willing to engage along honorable lines. Leaping to ascribing the end of America as we know to my little contributions here may be just a tad hyperbolic - so don't work yourself up over it, buddy. You could blow a gasket under the strain.

well you can't turn horse sh*t into gold.. this debate had no foundation in the first place if you wanted to "just work me up" for your own comedic purposes. you got your laugh, go pat yourself on the back

No, there was real intent, my brother, I just clothed it in irony.

I believe what you wrote was exactly what you said it wasn't. I believe what you wrote was racist. As I said.

I won't debate you here on the substance of your illegal immigration views, one, because it's been done many times on this board already, and two, because your histrionic response to my first post made patently clear that there'd be no useful dialogue regardless.

Suffice it to say that your view of "American values" and mine are worlds apart. Mainly, I don't see some one codus defining "American," find such a view limited in the extreme, and in fact, I find it quite un-American, at least by my sense of our cherished, shared history. Here.

good i dont have any intention on saying any more to you about it. you're one of the few people that just do not get it. others like guerilla and the other "centrist" vet atleast someone GET IT. if you don't like american values then move elsewhere.

if you don't live in america to begin with then good, we need less marxist voters. we didn't create a democratic constitution for politically correct tyrants such as yourself to exploit.

No, you're not an emotionally incapacitated nelly, of limited ability to boot. Marxist? I think that one was the best.

As a U.S., veteran, I love my country deeply, and the people in it. Point blank, you can go to hell, for making the pathetic attempt to define what my service earned.

No, we need brighter folks, to be sure, than your ilk, but hell - I'd even have fought and died for your right to be a moron.

ok i just reread my original statement. because mr. commi above me claimed i was racist. i meant to say getting pissed at illegal immigrants isn't racist. even so, i wasn't applying that to myself so you can play the race card another day! :)

So, after mounting the tirade of a stammering child, you've actually read what you wrote, and see the point made. Congrats.

Now, I agree with you, that getting pissed at illegal immigrants is far from necessarily racist. Many people have a problem with it, for reasons that have nothing to do with racism, and they are to be honored for cogent points made; it is in this where the heart of any useful debate lies. Perhaps someone else with a longer leash will do so.
