Missing the point, as usual, Sem. I wasn't knocking him. I was agreeing with him and expanding on the point he made to reinforce my previous comments in this thread.

It's called "discussion". You should try it some time.

This is known fact... But the mob boss has no one to stop him.

So the two kids keep doing what they like.

As usual, you jumped in with both feet, misinterpreting everything and missing the point, and getting it all totally wrong.

At least have the good grace to admit it. And if you can't do that, at least have the good sense to shut up before you make it worse.

Then again, using "good sense" in the any sentence about or addressed to you is just silly. What was I thinking?

Why the use of the word authority? I have always understood that Yahoo was an Authority Site.
I also understand why Yahoo is considered to be an Authority Site. Are you trying to suggest that this site carries the same weight as Yahoo and Dmoz? If not lets use another word because it gets confusing. Some might not understand the difference. Or is that the intent?

I believe a website with sitelinks is an authority for the specific "seach term".

Exactly. And Google do not use the word "Authority".

In fact, they dont give even the slightest hint that "Sitelinks" are in any way related to a sites importance.

What IS made clear is that Sitelinks are about making search results better for the user and it is a matter of better NAVIGATION. That is all

    The rest is "Urban Myth"

No urban myth. Its a deliberate. A misrepresentation and falsification thats intended to con the unwary web master into parting with good money in return for little or no more value than they will get submitting to the free directories. Is it any wonder this industry is viewed with suspicion and such distaste?

I agree with Minstrel that the sitelinks do not signify that a site is an "authority site"

Google says sitelinks are “useful links”

It appears that the sitelinks are displayed if a web site is an authority for the search term or that web site is "useful"

Dirctories are fine. Paid directories are fine. Just take care to chose the friends you keep and avoid those who lie, cheat and steal.

Sitelinks have nothing to do with Authority. Many low quality sites have them .
This is not an 'algo test' either. I believe it is a filter that has the been around for a while and increased recently to reduce the influence of Paid Directories.

Nice post. People need to realize that SiteLinks are not a sign of Authority.
