Buy Your Own Products?

Discussion in 'Commission Junction' started by APCLIK, Sep 6, 2007.

I sell CJ items (Supplements) on my fitness site. One of my selling points is that I have used all these products at some point. Funny thing is, I buy supplements regularly. Can I buy them from myself or my site? It would actually be cheaper for me. Is this a TOS violation? I have checked and didn't see anything, but I know some of the people here are CJ professionals. Thanx in advance.

Yes. You can use your own aff links to by products for yourself. I've done it plenty of times.

99% of merchants allow for you to buy through your own links... however NOT all of them do. You can check the merchant TOS and see. :)

No, the question is NOT like can you click on your own google ads. You can't click on your own google ads, but YES you can click on CJ ads and buy things through your own links. Many publishers do this just to test the merchant links, leakage, and see if things are tracking right. A sale is a sale to a merchant 99% of the time.

How is it not like apples and oranges. Nearly all CJ advertisers are CPA based, and thus either a sale or lead had to be generated. Few, if any left anymore, are PPC.

As stated nearly all CJ advertisers (at least the top ones) allow for you to use your own links to buy products or services through. From advertisers like Newegg to Zappos.

However you can't do it at ALL with Adsense. You are not allowed to click on your ads at all with google.

So I don't see how you can compare a PPC network like adsense with CJ. :)

I think I may have put it wrong.

At any rate, you can use your own links.

Safest thing to do is just ask CJ AND the advertiser. I have good relationships with my advertisers and I wouldn't want to get them mad.

If you want a product from one of your affiliates, and they don't have anything in their TOS that states you can't buy it, go ahead and purchase it. It is like getting cash back on your purchases.

I view it as an employee discount. You are selling and promoting their products, like an employee at a retail store. Those employees usually get a discount on things. I don't buy very often from my own links, but if I really want something and I can get it through my affiliate then I will buy it from them.
