    "honest bucks"?

If you are truly making "honest bucks", you have nothing to worry about. If you are one of those who made a few or a lot of "dishonest bucks" by trying to game Google, you definitely need to worry.

A smart business person would never have got this industry into this position in the first place. Cheap shysters on the other hand really couldnt care. People are hurting. Thats not a glitch, its horribly real for some.
Crass. Roll me over and do it again..........

Google have a big mouth. I read your blog (if its yours) and I find it stupid how they even try to push Poker laws to the UK and others. Quite a joke really!

I'm suprised they don't send law cases to those who sell links  Maybe thats next heh

But you expect to rank organically high for FREE on an American owned search engine. Therefore I think it is reasonable for US law to apply, rather than UK law. Or am I missing something?

have you ever taken notice to how people in society dislike it when people who are Famous or have Money get away with breaking the rules?

Yahoo and all the other Directories should have no other exception. if they do force sites who offer paid links/advertising to have a nofollow rule, then all these other big name directories should 2.

I dont recall ever reading that Yahoo or DMOZ have been caught buying links - they probably dont need to :)

So I am not sure what rules you think they have broken in this regard?

I thought "gaming Google" is what all SEOs and directory owners live off, honest or not...

this is not about buying links. Its about how Big G wants any links in the form of advertising to have a nofollow measure.

Just to put the potential for this to be a temporary algo anomaly in to perspective, has anyone noticed or seen any non-directory sites disappearing from Google?

I don't expect to feature anywhere in google.com. My customers are in the UK and use google.co.uk.

Google.co.uk is registered as a UK entity with the FSA and has to obey UK laws so why should google.co.uk try to obey US laws as well.

My blog is blogstorm.co.uk but I've been guest posting on the seoptimise.com one.

I dont think so. Its more about a few two bit hustlers talking up a storm and selling value where there is none. Words like abuse, misrepresentation, scam and fraud spring to mind. Google has been pressing our buttons and its time that those who dont understand whats been happening, wake up to the fact we dont have carte blanche to use and manipulate the tools Google provides just because we have an itch in all the wrong places.

If you don't like Google, disallow Googlebot from your robots.txt.

    It's a powerful statement.
