Exactly Wealdie.. what do you do again besides make posts for the sake of making posts?

What about the project of two computer science students that was ugly, had no "bling" and everyone laughed at? Oh yah... now I remember what company that was...the one that has monopolized the most popular thread on DP.

Anxiously awaiting the next "zinger" from our resident master of sarcasm...

What type? Human and bots ;) USA, Uk and indian to be precise. Not all bidding directories are high traffic. The good ones are with hard working owners.

Yeah, but I would rather have the organic traffic - its free. Getting 40 from google is more satisfying somehow than getting 40 a day from a paid advert.

Rob you work so hard. Certainly give the customers what they paid for. Do you ever go to bed (to sleep :p, not the other stuff)

Can Rob cook? Or is it fries and a pizza? hehe i even eat breakfast at my PC lol

Eat while you work. Thats what i do.

    No eating in the bedroom/office.
No smoking in the house. ONLY outside

cook? ha! If i didn't do what I do today, and if I wasn't a software engineer back when I was younger, I would have gone to culinary arts schooling. My wifey..matter o'fact, my whole family still pleads me to go. I am a masta chef :p (all jokes aside, I really can cook my butt off and it truly does impress women)

I am here to amuse others (my PM inbox "might" be egging me on) and raise some "home truths".

I am not here for self promotion, approval, or even a big kiss.

Also, I am not here to "insult" people - although I might be scathing about a "sector"

Most of all it is clear to me that British irony and humour is misunderstood around here. :D

I am surprised to see those well promoted directories are not listed in the G SERP any more with their own domain names.

It does worry me some but I would like to keep my hope. ATM, my directories seem to be ok. I will keep an eye on the SERP for sure.

What means "advertising"? Millions of directories with millions of the same links; it's clear that they do something! The net's supposed to give information not "duplicatet" content again and again!!! :(

I suppose G would be PERFECTLY happy if we all went free and offered adsense in place of paid reviews.
Then when dir owners clicked each others ads they would cry invalid clicks...

    TOTAL BS!

Google are the only people who are allowed to eat steak... the rest of us have to eat baloney...

Google doesn't have a problem with you chatging people for a directory listing. They're just not going to let you use those paid links to pass PageRank.

As for the directories that are currently being "penalized" (if indeed they are), there does seem to be a theme emerging - one of the affected directories playing a little too fast and loose with Google guidelines.

If your directory is on the up and up and people want to pay you for a listing, Google is fine with that.
