Israel is giving the gaza strip electricity. Think it should stop ?

If you want to stop the terrorists, and this is my firm position, give them the best of everything.

Give them hospitals. Education. Housing. An economy. Give them property rights. Give them MTV and Dancing with the stars.

The easiest way to subdue an enemy is to make them lazy, and comfortable. Pretty soon, their kids will love Nike and ringtones more than suicide bombing. And that's when you've won.

It's how America kicked the beejeezus out of Russia. We proved that capitalism and western commercial goods like Coke and McDonalds are preferable to food lines and nasty Vodka.

It is when the government is responsible for mass producing it from all of the potatoes not fit for distribution in the food lines.

 

Chop off their supplies they won't have any supplies if they killed all jews anyway.

 

Their mentality will not allow them to 'get lazy and comfortable', and this is a problem.
If let's say, we give them everything - they will want more.
It's as simple as that. Give them a finger, they'll want 2 whole arms. And some more.
So, this won't work in my opinion.

 

Cutting water and electricity wont solve anything and will only make it worse.
Why is it most people think international politics is on a par with playground childishness? What should Israel say after they cut the water? "nur nur nur nur nur!"?

There are a lot of decent people in the strip and depriving them of water and electricity is unacceptable.

 

There are a lot of decent people that live in Israel, and depriving them of the right to live in peace without fear of being killed is unacceptable as well.

 

There is a presumption that every Palestinian is waging war with Israel, that none of them are every day folks like you and I, trying to raise a family, struggling to get ahead in life.

Cut basic services like clean water and electricity, you're going to seriously demoralize all of those non-combative people, and then the terrorist leadership exploits that by saying, "America/Israel hates you. They are trying to kill you. You must fight."

That's specifically the kind of rhetoric the religious zealots use to recruit.

Instead, strip away the foundation of the rhetoric. Prosperous people don't go out and car bomb. They are too busy lining up for iPhones and taking their kids to daycare.

 

Well, I think you have to resort to childish actions when it is pretty apparent that the adults can't get along, except instead of fighting with their hands they are fighting with bombs and guns.

I don't believe the situation over there will ever be resolved. But if it was me, I would go to the point of forcing them to move somewhere else away from that West Bank. That perhaps means taking away life's necesseties.

 

Yes. but how does that justify cutting off the water and power?
You aren't suggesting two wrong would make a right, Are you?

 

I am suggesting that these are our resources these people are getting, because they gotta live somehow too.
But these people must make a change. If they want to enjoy water and electricity, which we are nice enough to give them, they should stop supporting Hamas, and make a stop to all the nonsense that is currently going on.
That, of course, will not happen. Thus cutting their electricity and water for a very short period of time would be as a warning of what we are capable of doing, but are not doing because we want peace for a change.

 

Right because old people and children can tell hamas what to do...

So you're basically saying that all the population in Gaza which does not consist of old people and children, are Hamas supporters and/or active within Hamas ?

Make sure you spray water over everything before you turn up the electricity.

 

I don't know how you come to that conclusion.
I said the people who will be effected worst by your bully boy tactics of denying them basic living conditions are the same people who will have no effect on weather rockets are fired in to Israel of not.

Cutting supplies will do nothing except escalate violence and harm people who have zero control. So if you want more rockets (and i sometimes suspect Israel do, because then they have an excuse to fire some of their own) then by all means cut off supplies. But if you are even remotely serious about obtaining peace stop being such fucking bullies.

Since the beginning of the second intifada, in September 2000, Israel has imposed restrictions on the movement of Palestinians in the West Bank that are unprecedented in scope and time. As a result, the fundamental right of West Bank Palestinians to freedom of movement, their exercise of which was limited in any event, has become a privilege that Israel extends to them as it deems fit. Indeed, Palestinian travel in the West Bank is now an exception, which must be justified to the Israeli authorities, and almost every trip entails uncertainty, friction with soldiers, much waiting, and often great expense.

Israel combines a number of means in implementing the restrictions-on-movement regime. The means include fixed and temporary checkpoints, 47 of which control Palestinians' movement inside the West Bank , 455 physical obstructions on roads, and the Separation Barrier. Certain areas are under siege: entry is possible only through checkpoints and is subject to checks and possession of a permit. On 312 kilometers of main roads in the West Bank , vehicles bearing Palestinian license plates are forbidden or restricted.

The restrictions on movement that Israel has imposed on Palestinians in the West Bank have split the area into six major geographical units: North, Center, South, the Jordan Valley and northern Dead Sea, the enclaves resulting from the Separation Barrier, and East Jerusalem . In addition to the restrictions on movement from section to section, Israel also severely restricts movement within the sections by splitting them up into subsections, and by controlling and limiting movement between them.

The geographic division of the West Bank has far-reaching implications on every aspect of Palestinian life. For example, the restrictions impede access to medical facilities, both of the medical staff and the patient. The difficulty in getting to work, the constant lack of certainty, and the greater expenses resulting from the restrictions gravely affect the economy and trade in the West Bank . The restrictions impair family and social ties. Other negative ramifications include a decline in the supply of infrastructure services and in law enforcement in areas under the responsibility of the Palestinian Authority.

Right you don't have the facts to back that up buddy. There are 8x more civilians killed by Israel than Palestinians. So please get your facts straight. You restrict more and more, the more attacks you will get.

 

When terrorists try to hide behind women and children, while using them as their shields, civilians are bound to get killed. It's sad.
Nonetheless, there would of been MUCH more casualties if we didn't monitor checkpoints.
