I would rather discuss them in private. I know I am little fish, in a huge pond, but Google used to be best friends with the little fish. I hope it is still that way.

bobby9101, I'm afraid that I just can't work one-on-one with everyone. If you could ask the question(s) publicly then I can try to give answers that everyone benefits from. Is there any way you could make your question(s) more general to apply to lots of site owners?

Qestions that many want answering Matt :-

Firstly, why have many web directories fallen out of the first few pages of google for their own name? "aviva directory" "alive directory". These are established sites and have lost rankings all over the place. My site is included in this, that why i am asking.

Personally, i am not so bothered about the next question, although thousands of people are if you view the sticky thread at the top of this forum :

When will google export the latest PageRank to the toolbar? Apparently its been the longest time since the last update on record, so forum members want to know why google are showing out-of-date data to toolbar users?

I think those are the most asked questions at the moment. I would love to hear your answers :)

Matt has posted twice and I'm sure he will try to answer any sensible questions posed at some point.

I have not seen any evidence of sensible questions worthy of an answer actually being asked in this thread though

perhaps you should offer an award to the people who have his contact details. Would that be allowed on here?

Can o Worms M8 - he starts answering every little enquiry he`d have no time to do much else.... it would start an avalanche.

Use the Google boards as there are Search Quality team members there for that specific reason.

Matt takes a lot of time to answer sensible questions in many places, including his own blog.

However, I very much doubt he will be minded to answer your questions, namely:

When is the next TBPR export

    or

Why have some Directories "allegedly" been smacked

    Good grief man :D

Here's what I've said about directories recently:

"Q: Hey, as long as we're talking about directories, can you talk about the role of directories, some of whom charge for a reviewer to evaluate them?
A: I'll try to give a few rules of thumb to think about when looking at a directory. When considering submitting to a directory, I'd ask questions like:
    - Does the directory reject urls? If every url passes a review, the directory gets closer to just a list of links or a free-for-all link site.
    - What is the quality of urls in the directory? Suppose a site rejects 25% of submissions, but the urls that are accepted/listed are still quite low-quality or spammy. That doesn't speak well to the quality of
    the directory.
    - If there is a fee, what's the purpose of the fee? For a high-quality directory, the fee is primarily for the time/effort for someone to do a genuine evaluation of a url or site.
    _
Those are a few factors I'd consider. If you put on your user hat and ask "Does this seem like a high-quality directory to me?" you can usually get a pretty good sense as well, or ask a few friends for their take on a particular directory."

As far as the toolbar PageRank, I definitely wouldn't expect to see it in the next few days. Probably not even in the next couple weeks, if I had to guess.

So toolbar pagerank is definitely not a thing of the past, Matt? I have to tell you, your company (Goliath that it is) is causing quite a stir in the webmaster community. Please have your people consider those of us that respect and rely on certain measures such as PageRank to validate our own accomplishments and make a moderate assessment of other sites. If PageRank dies or becomes considerably altered from its current form, a competitor could gain a lot of attention to itself by supplying us a substitute.

Wow Matt - that is quite tantalising - I would have bet to "eat my hat" that you would not of commented on this issue either way.

Yikes - it will all kick off in here now :)
