Exactly! As I said before they are a comercial business, we are using their service and can pay for the privelidge
Why the rolleyes? That's called "advertising", it's different and most users of Google are aware that the stuff in the blue box isn't a "natural" search result. There's nothing wrong with using AdWords, it's manipulating organic results through backhanders to other webmasters that I don't have a problem with eliminating. Why should a website with decent relevant content lose out to a crappy portal stuffed keywords and adsense? I don't want to see that junk in my SERPs...
There is nothing wrong if Google rewards Seniority & Authority. The problem is the quality of Search Result. I was referreing to irrelevant and value-less pages from authority sites coming up on top result. Did you read the post properly? I have no problem at all if Google follows this rule strictly- What I am saying is -relevancy and high quality search results.
LOL... good one. I agree too, but isn't MERIT subjective too? How does one define whether a certain website is more suitable to be on page 1 compared to another? If you say content, then how do you measure content? If you, like me, say that there are lots of factors, some measurable some not, that determines whether a site should be on top in SERPs, so it is subjective! With this in mind, using the amount of marketing a site does as one of the factors to influence SERPs should not be discriminated against.
Well, go on, demonstrate some value-less pages from authority sites then... if you do, I'll admit you have a point Personally the value-less pages I most often see in Google are value-less because they're blatantly SEO'd rubbish, not because they're old, and how can an "authority site" be irrelevant? Sounds like a contradiction
Google can measure quality of the content and can collect a lot of data as to how relevant the page site is via user metrics - bounce rates, depth of visit, length of visit, user trending. There is a ton of ways to detect a quality site - the toolbar and analytics tracking feedback more data to be analysed. And user metrics cannot be gamed easily now can they
Ladies and Gents... The reason behind the Paid Links campaign is revealed. Make it harder for sites to have some what of a chance in SERP's and force them to purchase paid links through AdWords. A bit hypocritical?
That is why you report those sites and expect them to carry out their service. Nothing in life is free my friend. Even though we can use their search engine for free, they are making billions because of us. So it is their job to do so. Report those sites stuffing keywords, simple as that.
Google = advertising Rest of the webmasters = Paid links There is absolutley no way that google can track whether a link is paid for advertising or some other purpose. Why would a person pay for links if the purpose is not advertising? The point I made eaRlier about adword is absolutely true whether you call it advertising or whatever you want. Poeple pay for their links to get displayed on other websites. I call it "paid links" whether the purpose is advertising or something else. If you have not paid moeny you would not be there. It is all about "paying money to google". Buying links as well as sharing links has been going on for a long time. Google is here to try and change the course. It will be a long battle, and never truly resolved.
Hello there- Do you really check your facts before you get yourself involved in an argument? Check how many irrelevant pages are here from those so-called authority sites. Please check each and every result for top 50. Pages from them rank high --but there is nothing that would offer real value to the searchers from them.
What did they do again? Didnt it have something to do with putting a stop to an unsavoury business practice? Didnt they do precisely what everyone predicted they wouldnt do because it would cost them money? Its about time they started cleaning up their act and hopefully there is more to come. It looks as if some turkeys are a little hard of hearing and are not particularly bright.
Yeah because most directories spammed and muscled their way into it by deception. Look at those craps of hundreds or thousand of categories indexed without any listing and didn't even SWEAT to add any and they talk about how strong and visible theirs are. I have returned a Verizon Phone Book because it has a very thick page with blank pages which I cannot find information.
What pages do you think should be in those SERPs? I see a load of reasonably reputable looking online shops offering to sell me sofa beds. Please tell me why there's a lack of "real value" there In the end I don't think any amount of "fact checking" will help me win this argument, as you have a subjective belief that those results aren't relevant. Which sites do you think that query should turn up instead?
