Google's recent hit .. to kill paid links or promote uniqueness?

Discussion in 'Google' started by Mong, Sep 5, 2007.

?

Recent hit of Google was due to

  1. Killing paid links promotion

    30 vote(s)
    36.1%
  2. Lack of required uniqueness in contents

    15 vote(s)
    18.1%
  3. Google is damn EVIL. Nothing else.

There could be two possibilities ..
    1) Its continuity of hit on paid links promotion like hit of John Chow / Text Link Ads.

    OR
    2) Maybe according to Google's algo most of the directories meet the merit of 'uniqueness' in contents which Google think there should be.

    What's your take on it?

My take on it does not come up in the Poll, but it sure has created some emotions here in DP

But one thing is guaranteed life and business goes on :)

    hello...

WE are all tired off being bullied by google and tired off walking on egg shells.

They ask webmasters to do the right thing for them and thier algo but could care less about replying back with answers when we ask for them.

whens the last time that they actually gave something back to us for doing the right thing for them?

    thx

Exactly heart of this thread you posted at right time.

Google is going on path to become a blind dictator. I don't think it will help anyone because this way user of Google search will also loose their confidence.

Quality of Google search is bound to decrease if it carries the same policy as its pursuing now.

Probably its the best time for Yahoo/Live to get up but unfortunately it doesn't seem to happen. We are in closed street.

IMO, google doesn't want to kill paid links promotion, in fact google never can kill paid links promotion .
Maybe paid directories will die(I don't think so) , but paid blog post will appear .

The google guidelines are not rules you have to follow. They are recommandations from the expert to help get your site indexed and ranked in all search engines.

John Chow / Text Link Ads.
had to be banned, they are way too blatent to ever continue riding on Google's train while encouraging others to disregard and go against everything they try to stand for. Good move to ban John Chow and TLA.

    Google is evil!

Even though they said paid links are a bad thing ,they can only detect it manually and not by any other means.

    Let's all BOYCOTT Google!!

LOL...... hopefully other SE's will get their act together (Yahoo seems to be waking up) and use the building resentment against G to make a comeback and takeback some market share. Now G is a monopoly and they can do anything they want without suffering the consequences.

Perhaps a boycott is not such a bad idea in the future ;)

Small cannot boycott with Big. If it happens then only SMALL will suffer.

yes you are right. Yahoo has overtaken G in terms of user satisfaction based on american polls. You can see the results here along with comparison of other SE's:
    http://www.lifesperspective.com/2007/08/16/yahoo-overtakes-google-in-user-satisfaction/

Yahoo is also seriously reinventing itself, so i'm optimistic that they are trying to put up a real fight now. :D

If yahoo delivers better results than it can take big share from Baidu because chinese users have soft heart for Yahoo compared with Google. ;)

But hungry always think of food.

maybe since G wants to act high-and-mighty and refuse to show any transparency to the people that depend on them for their businesses. No point running around in the bush and trying to guess and speculate till our hairs drop without G saying anything.....
