That was really quite a good post Qryztufre, you are really getting the tone of this forum right. You are bitter n twisted, got the hang of the rhetoric including outrageous accusations, you are blind to any point of view other than your own, and last but not least you have got the use of the rolled eye sarcasm thing going on.

What kind of categories do you edit?

There are idiot editors out there that keep their idiot categories up to date, find new idiot sites to add on their own, and process new idiot submissions when they come in. They even green bust for non-idiot categories.

Remind me why I am an idiot for implying that some categories might be better for timely editing?

By the way, I don't see any bookmarks for you:

Please feel free to point out any outrageous accusations that you feel I've made. I've been far more civil then you, and have asked serious questions of you and other editors. Just because you feel they were rhetorical does not mean I did not want answers.

Though from the looks of your reply to my comment it does seem that you are offended that people think IDIOT is a POTSHOT. Sad really...I think your dictionary may be in need of updating. Yours must say that child pornography is OK, Idiot is a compliment, and gambling is the great American pass time  (that is the proper use of that emote right?)

So the directory is full of porn and penis enlargemnet, but you are worried that sites sit for 2 years, if your statements were true would you want DMOZ to continue? Obviously not, so why then are you bothered, surely you would like it better if we left them for 10 years. There does seem something contradictory about your comments.

The only real way to change things is from inside, come on in, or won't they let you?

Just in case you cant tell one day from another, idiots came after the pop shots, an alcoholic haze is it?

Tell you what, if ours is so bad, why not start your own, find a few hundred volunteers and put us out of business, now that way you really would be helping. Come on a real challenge show us how to do it. When you get to the million mark, come back and tell us.:p

No, there is a lot of good in the directory, but there is also a lot of bad. It was not the webmasters that listed either, it was the editors. Though recently, the number of questionable sites seems to be on the rise, while the categories deeper into the project seem to be neglected.

I was in, and asked for change...didn't you notice? I had metas crawling my category, and admin calling me a troll, and I was a bit more civil in the internal forums then I am out here. Though I see that you invite me in to stir the pot while you are out here... whats the matter, fear to get the changes going yourself?

Projecting your own problems onto others are we? I've not drank in years, so your pot shot here is a bit off it's mark. Get your mind out of the gutter for a change and maybe you'll learn there are better buttons to push...like ones that exist.

Honestly, I'd rather see DMOZ raise to its own potential. Directories are a saturated market, and I'd rather see the current quality of them raise rather then simply adding to the mix.

Though honestly getting to the million mark would not be all that hard. I'd just need to hit up Geocities, CNN, and TOPIX like the ODP did...

It's overly clear that you desire no changes within the directory. I'm sorry to think that you actually cared about the things you claimed ~ DMOZ.

Then why are you here? It's certainly not to defend DMOZ, you stopped doing that in favor of flaming and trolling the members here. I don't call people names, so maybe you've been here longer then me? This account must have been created due to you getting banned in the past...right?

    Made what?

You clearly do not listen very well.

Though, I'll make you a deal. Clean up your directory and I'll build one that's bigger and better...but not till then. Otherwise it would not be fair that I'd have to do all that work by myself when you have 75,150 editors to help you.

You been reading the DMOZ forums, but I thought you were booted.

Wrong, if you don't flame others why do you accuse me of telling lies, like one has to say one has never had an account in another name to get in here. Perhaps you would not know truth if it hit you in the face, but I just happen to tell it and did there. Your apology accepted.:D

Now what has numbers of editors to do with clean ups, if I could follow your arguments it would be lot easier to listed, but if you keep wandering off the subject what chance has anybody to follow you? And don't forget that one those editors is you.

    I just recall you saying
Though honestly getting to the million mark would not be all that hard. I'd just need to hit up Geocities, CNN, and TOPIX like the ODP did...

Come on now, either it is easy or its not and if it is easy, why are you not telling us a couple of days later that you have proved it is. Or was that a little lie that slipped out?

Saying it would not be hard and saying I'd do it are two different things. And again, you do not listen very well.

I said: Clean up your directory and I'll build one that's bigger and better.

Are you saying DMOZ is clean now?

If its that easy and you think ours is corrupt, then spend your time building that 3 million site directory and I am sure Google will start using yours. Funny, no one has managed to build one yet, still you as superman can do it single handed.

But I won't hold me breath while yer do.

Its a damn sight easier to criticize than to do, especially with all these ex-editors and porn site owners baying for blood with you.

Are you angry that you and nebuchadrezzar DMOZ list selling business is going down? :D

Soon you have to get a real job.

Buy DMOZ links from DMOZ "senior" editors.

You've not read a single word I've posted have you?

Are you saying that over 10,000 topix entries in over 1,000 pages is normal? Do you think that having a direct feed from CNN that does nothing but bloat your listing numbers is OK? Do you think the pedophile sites that have been in and out of the ODP are a good thing?

I DON'T WANT A DIRECTORY OF MY OWN
I WANT DMOZ TO BE CURED OF IT'S INFECTION

I can see you are a part of the disease if you can not see the problems of how things are going, have gone, and will likely go. So feel free to think what you want about me, but do yourself a favor and take a step back and see just how the ODP looks from any point of view but yours. You have access to it's insides, use that access and help to make it a better place.

Failing that, go and add in a few extra Topix links, I'm pretty sure there are a few categories without one still.

But the best way for YOU to cure it is to build that easy directory, much, much quicker than bothering to ask us to change, much, much easier for Google to use a very clean directory. So if you don't want your own, leave ours alone.

Why don't you just admit that you couldn't do it, or I guess you would have by now. No, 'tis far easier to sit on your backside and chuck rocks at those who can do it, have done it are doing it and very well.

    Anonymously,
How many submissions are waiting for editing in your categories? If there are none go find some or start greenbusting. That'll help improve the value of "your" directory.

Anonymously likes green but not that kind of green. Too bad the number of greens is getting less and less for their group since some "senior" editors have started to sell listings at the wholesale prices. :D

You are completely off your rocker!

You ask me to build a directory of a million sites with no corruption because I asked you to help clean up the ODP. I said that I had no desire to build a directory when there is already one with plenty of good sites, it just needs a little cleaning, and you tell me there is no cleaning to be done?

Now tell me again how you don't support molesting children?

I think it is really clever that Qryztufre has figured out how to the use the vb code to make your text bigger, well done Q. The next thing you need to work on is your range of insults when you get angry. Variants on the you are a child molester/support child molesters are wearing a bit thin.

Why don't you do what Julian does? Just come out with a totally unsupported allegation out of the blue and treat it like it is a fact. It is much more effective.

Not every one can be a "SEO expert" like you and sell links in DMOZ. The amount of knowledge that you have in order to get paid, tell your customer to submit the site to DMOZ and then for you to approve it, is simply amazing. :D

Why don't you do what I do and actually try discussing things? Try being civil, and try to actually defend your precious directory rather then going off about how I've learned how to change my font size.

I know more about vBulletin then most people do, if you'd bother to actually read what I say rather then looking at the size of my font (which by the way IS bigger then yours  ) you may actually notice I've written several articles on vBulltin and how it's used.

So stop looking at pictures, and actually join in on the discussion...it does concern you after all.

Besides, I do have no need to make things up. The truth is much more exciting.

Excellent, that is classic Julianism. Your smarmy unsubstantiated accusations just roll off your tongue, I am humbled by the true master.
