I am currently in college majoring in web design and development. I had some extra cash laying around, so i decided to buy a domain name, just to have fun with it. I decided to do it over something i like which was Texas Rap. I built this site from scratch, and I was wanting some feedback.....don't be afraid to say something, because im not too proud of it either. If only I had the time to work on it, then it would look better...damn work. www.texastakeover.com Thanks!
Hi CEO, I was raised in Houston listening to rap, especially Getto Boys, so I guess I'd have a look at your site. These are just a few tips I can give you, you don't need to agree obviously and please know anything I post will be with best intent when I suggest a change. First of all it is not too expensive to get it hosted out of godaddy. Try to get it hosted at www.aplus.net or somewhere like that. They have plans for very little money and getting that banner off the top will be +1000 points for you. More experienced users here can give you better advice on where to get it hosted. Secondly, you need tons of content on that site! Don't promote it a a lot before you get some good ammount of unique content into it. Thirdly, and lastly : get rid of those "in construction" or "more coming". Back in 1996 you could post a page under construction but nowadays you really should not release a site unless it's ready. When you host it somewhere comercially see if you can install something like Drupal or wordpress and that kind of system will allow you to add, modify and remove content easily(they're free too). Good luck and best wishes.
Definitely get paid hosting. I think GoDaddy has plans for as long as $5 a month. With decent traffic, you can generate that much money from Adsense to cover the hosting fees. Secondly, the website needs to better explain what it is. All I know is that it has to do with hip hop and Texas. A little more information would be nice.
Agreed, the free hosting has to go. Add fresh unique content, a couple ad networks to cover hosting costs, and you'll have a nice little niche you can dominate! Never know, with the right marketing behind it, you may have Texas rappers beating down your door to advertise on your site! Big $$
Very poor design. Are you really a college student in the webdesign sphere? If so I'm really amazed how poor the education can be...
Hi Dear, 1. You can go through these website like: bluehost.com and hostmysite.com where you can get your domain registered. 2. You have to add more cotent in your website and make it live. 3. You have to run adsence on your website which recover the posting fee which you paid to your host side easily as a lot of persons love rap music. Good Luck.
I dont think the above comment was really fair as its not that bad. i really like the blue header thing. I dont like the Site Updated: 9-3-07 text because the font doesnt seem very nice and just doesnt fit with the header I think you need more content and more of a layout for the content section Also if you cant afford hsoting there is some other free hosts that wont place something like that on your site
Gee, Sorry coach. I didnt know this would have costed us the game! (Comment reply to jkolarov) As I said before, I rarely have time to work on it. (on count of work) As for everyone else who commented: Thanks for the tips, I am going to have that banner removed by the weekend, and I am going to add lots more content!
Dont get adsense. Why would you get adsense. At least get some content and some visitors before using adsense. When you are trying to make money off music, I would think putting up ads sends confusing signals. Anyway. Not much content. But the bios look so very dry and boring. A black background doesn't make it easier. Try to break it up, and get some simple graphics/artwork in. It's just a wall of text-noise.
maybe use blue lines to break the home page up abit Then have a bit about your website and also a bit aboutthe album of the week
Yes... I agree with the comments about needing content.... make it inticing for people to learn something about what you are presenting... just started eh? kewl! Lhlalyam
