Hi, I have a 2 months old website, Google indexed 68 pages in August, and now it shows only 49
    Why? What have I done?
Is it because I published some of my articles on ezinearticles, rumorist, del.icio.us?
    Any ideas would be appreciated

Most likely you didn't do anything wrong... It just fluctuates in google...

I've got a site that flutters between 3k and 5k pages... It goes up and down a lot...

Thanks for your answer, tarponkeith, it's reassuring :)

(BTW, that's a lot of indexing on your site, well done)

I encountered a similar situation. My site is three months old. When it first started, Google added 40-50 pages every couple of days. All the way to 1200 pages two weeks ago. Today, it has dropped to 880 pages and decreasing. I thought it was side effect from Sandbox. So I used tools to check it. The tool said it is not in Sandbox.

How can I get Google to re-index more pages?

Has anyone tried submitting sitmap and noticed any page indexing changes after submission?

That is normal. I think google is not yet done in PR update co'z until now they still updating backlinks and not showing the PR. Backlinks are updated first before the PR update.

Number if Indexed pages always fluctuates in Google
However, here are the Possible Reasons for this:

    1. Some of Your Pages have less Rankings in Google, so Google might leave them unindexed | Solution: Get Incoming Links for your pages or improve your internal link structure
    2. Your server might be down, when Google Bot last accessed your site | Solution : Get a Web Hosting Server of UPTIME greater than 95%.
    3. Google Bot is not visiting your site | Solution: You can add sitemaps for your site in Google Webmaster Central
