BBC NEWS | Technology | Windows XP to be retired in 2008 Why? I'm going to wait until the last day of XP to upgrade to vista and then I have to get a new computer and everything to get it upto the minimum specification for vista and secondly they have already got plans for windows vienna to come out in 2009 (Which I highly doubt it). Microsoft is just plain g@y for making promises which they can't keep.
MS basically supports the current OS and its predecessor. So support for XP will stop when Vista is replaced, just like support for Windwos 2000 Pro ended when Vista was released.
Whoa there, I dislike Vista as well, but let's not go overboard. Windows ME was one of the worst things to happen to the PC world ever. I wouldn't torture Iraqi insurgents with that operating system, it's just too cruel. 2009 is too optimistic for Vienna. If it does come out in that year it will be an incremental upgrade that will probably fall on its nose, just like ME did. Instead of complaining about always having to buy a new computer to keep up with Microsoft's OS's, why not just take some time to learn how to use another OS, such as a Linux one?
I wont install vista no matter what, i am a hardcore gamer, and vista just sucks the resources, witch means lower FPS = not for me. And i agree, its windows ME but looks better/sucks more resources, hell i would probably install windows me over vista.
I think Vista cheerleaders are a small minority. Vista works on powerful machines.... when it works Also i heard that this is a complicated OS for non-geeks. Don't get fooled by its nice design
I don't care if Microsoft retires it. I'm using XP until I choose to upgrade to Vista, which is never because my laptop isn't powerful enough. And whats this vienna talk? Another OS so soon?
I've seen nothing in Vista that makes me think I should upgrade anytime soon. Can't believe they'd pull the plug on XP so fast after supporting Win95 for 6-7 years after it's release.
