Now, THAT's what i call FAITH! Good luck on your launch, and may the 'FORCE' be with you not sure if it's the PR chases or the SERP chasers since its the SERP results that were dropped and not PR. Anyway, glad to see so many of us are still optimistic about the future when many others are turning their backs
Of course everyone should keep the faith Just continue to do what you all do; to better your projects/endeavors, regardless of the tattletales out there..
Your missing the point, it was the PR chasers (they know who they are) that got penalized in the SERPS! It might be interesting when PR does change though if they do drop it as I'd love to see the purported directories with newsfeeds instead of links, and blank pages instead of links with a PR5 get dropped to what they deserve, a big fat 0 until they get content. Keep the faith? What's this, we're all born again christians are we. I'm not kidding you, next thing we'll get is someone posting, something like, 'keep doing what we're doing and patronize with some comment such as 'bettering your endevours', and then blame it on the 'tittletattlers' out there. Ooops, someon just did, sorry never saw that post!! Get real, people cut their own throats on here without the need for slimebuckets to go telling tales.
whats the matter pheonix you dont like my feeds? well you surly wont like whats next on the agenda as ive added even more to help those i choose to include in my directories.. Yes phx its the new wave off things to come Do i want to tell ya... nahhh i dont want to see everyone copying my ideas or it being added in any script as a freebie ... gotta run to the dentist they are adding solid gold braces with diamonds so that when i smile at ya i blind ya.. lol see ya around the watering hole ... laterz malcolm
Aww, you let me down malcolm, your posts are actually pretty okay, but then you seem to be talking someone elses' words and respect is lost. Be your own man and you'll do fine, don't play to the peanut throwing gallery though it makes you look something I suspect your not. I'm pretty sure you know what I'm on about.
well im lost about the part about speaking for someone else... Let me tell you and any other person that reads this post... I could care less what others do and say as you wont change "who i am" and "what im about"... What ive built was with my own idea with my own $$ that i invested.. As for Submittions I choose whom i want in my network of directories because its my decision or editors to make and nothing to do with the "small fees" we charge for a "review" which does help build better stronger directories that will soon evolve to be more then what youve seen , but no matter what i wont compromise my face/image for a few bucks... Many "quality directories" where penalized for whatever reasons google saw as hurting their search results and many where warned (penalty) and next time they might not be so kind and just ban your directory altogether... So just try and watch what you allow in your directories... thx malcolm
I am currently working on a new major directory project, like most i am not going to use PR as its main point but what matters to me will be unique content, a great category structure and enough promotion that it ranks well in SERP's so that the listings get the maximum exposure, remember exposure is the main thing and that for a general directory the most valuable thing should be that they provide exposure=Business to there listings , since most of the businesses am not sure are not even aware of what PR shit is all about~ Its the exposure and the targeted traffic a good directory provides that matters most~
actually i disagree. Directories provide a service that is actually not about providing content. The initial purpose of directories was to be an authoritative voice of endorsement for quality sites. Search engines can then based on our recommendations (by our listing of the quality sites and rejection of the non-quality ones), take that into account when computing SERPs. Thus, it was never about providing content as we understand it. These are 2 different matters. However, many directories have evolved over time to provide content as well in order to increase their competitiveness and edge. But not providing content does not mean they are not fulfilling their initial purpose in the first place and also does not always imply that it is a lousy site.
It's your choice to disagree, as its mine to disagree with your view, not a problem there. Directories are and always will about providing content in the fashion of an organised list of links and information. Your claim that directories have evolved are miles off the mark, a few people thought of putting live feeds in as a way of cheating Google into thinking there was conent in them that's about it, and look where its led them. It's the same with gimmicks such as Alexa rating images and the like, all a load of nonsense. Providing a competitive edge? All you need to do that is put in more quality links relevant to your directory end of story. The only evolution is gimmicks that script owners put in as a way of kidding people they will improve thier directory and provide competative edge! It's no more than a ploy to get people to buy more scripts. Apart from PR fanatics and stats freaks want to see Alexa graphics and nonsense like that in a directory? No real visitor is interested if polly's baby clothes store has a PR0 just as long as it offers good quality clothes. In a nutshell, a directory will never need to evolve other than its bare content of quality links and descriptions.
Its a sad situation because it will take some time for seo companies to change their opinion. At last player in the game is ONLY Google.
it is very narrow minded to think that directories can only be about quality links and descriptions. That is certainly not how entrepreneurs think. Like i said, that was how directories first started of, being sources of good quality links like you said, but like i ALSO said, directories have evolved to provide more value like quality reference articles on internet marketing and SEO. I agree that many scripts and mods out there do not provide much value to the quality of a directory, but additional value from good quality articles (not found previously in many directories) is the EXTRA EDGE that i'm talking about.
Now I wonder why your so darned defensive about my comments, could it be because of this type of result? http://www.linksfactory.net/business_and_economy/Blogs/ 0 LINKS http://www.linksfactory.net/arts_humanities/Writers_and_Writing/ 0 LINKS http://www.linksfactory.net/arts_humanities/Writers_and_Writing/ 0 LINKS http://www.linksfactory.net/blogs/Entertainment/ 0 LINKS And they were just the first 4 pages I visited. This site is your right? It has a front page PR6. so according to Google its a 'Quality' resource. C'mon. I rest my case.
u really didn't need to sink to this level and make personal insults and attacks. I never professed to have the perfect directory and i know that there are areas that need improvement, and i'm working on them. My responses are not meant to cover this fact but due to the fact that i disagreed with your opinions. I believe that the forums is a good place to share different opinions and i respected your right to have a different view from me. But making such insults and attacks is unprofessional and just tells everyone that you have to resort to such tactics when you cannot win by logic and sense. anyway, we detract from the original purpose of this thread. just wanted to share that there are many companies and professionals out there who are still investing in this industry so don't lose focus with chasing the invisible google wind but rather focus on how we can better our sites.
This wasn't a personal insult or attack, I just state facts, I always try and back up everything I say and aplogise if I'm wrong. I agree with you on one thing, lets focus on the way forward and learn from the mistakes others make in the hope we don't follow them.
Pointing to category pages on your directory is hardly what I'd call a "personal attack." People on this forum really need to start using terms in the way they're meant.
I can't give you some green lovejuice for pointing that out. But thanks. It was not a personal attack I sent a p.m to that effect. Trouble is people see me as the big bad wolf as I speak the truth or at least my mind. I I'm wrong I'm the first to say sorry. Spot on Lexiseek.
