There has been a lot of misconception amongst Indians regarding PayPal and Xoom in particular. I decided to give it a try myself to check out how much of it is true.

I initiated a Xoom transfer at 4:00 PM IST on Sunday (2nd Sep 2007) and received the money in my bank account at 2:00 PM IST on Tuesday (4th Sep 2007). Let me tell you that it was my first ever transaction with Xoom and I faced no problems whatsoever.

A Xoom employee told me that all Xoom transfers are RBI approved and you CAN initiate a deposit transfer from your OWN Indian Verified PayPal account to your OWN Indian Bank Account. There's no problems with that. However, you CANNOT ask for a Cash Pickup. That is not approved by RBI and hence will be declined.

In my case, the PayPal account is a Verified Indian PayPal account. I registered with Xoom with my own name and initiated the transfer to my own Indian Bank Account. DO NOT try and cheat others by using anyone else's name in any of the accounts involved and you should be fine.

Hope that clears the confusion by quite a bit. :)

If its to be canceled it will get and funds will be reverted back to your account. Or it may get approved.

I have once issued a check to someone elses name via xoom via my paypal account, all got processed and its was approved asap too.

I would request you to stay cool n calm.

    dollars,
Don't worry about this. Bank transfer will take 4-5 days...
I think all the banks having holiday of Janmashtami.
So wait 2-3 days more. You will definitely get your money in your Bank Account.

I have recently transferred my money in my SBI account, It took 4 days.

My transaction got cancelled finally and i got the refund in my paypal account.
Well i think i need to enter the SBI account number which i got after the branch went through corebanking.
previously i entered the old number account of my account before the corebanking process of the bank.
Well now let's see what happens!:(

Yes you can make a payment from an unverified paypal account but unfortunately your money will not be converted into INR and would be refunded to your paypal account.

And regarding same address of sender and recepient - i dont think that its a problem. In my case, xoom account address, paypal account address and receipients account address are the same.

I am using xoom from a long time and no problem at all, even twice I put the money in my own account no problem at all. Best thing is Open your account with Punjab National Bank and your money can transfer within 24 hours.

    Hey Buddy,

Don't you worry, its ok, you can certainly send money from paypal to xoom with same address, keep checking your tracking number. You may be see things working fine. I have done several times transaction from xoom to my bank account, with same address, even same name.

You shall be ok...might stuck somewhere, just drop them an email, if don't see change in with 24hrs.

be patient dude and don't worry, i have transaction of $700-$800 in single go with no issues.
