How important external back links are? I am competing in keyword "football rumours" and as you can see the website www. football-rumours.co.uk is ranked first in that keyword. I ranked two (the one in my sigs), sometimes three, but what I want to ask is, why he ranked better than mine? I think my website got much more back links than this guy. I beat the man who owned footballrumours.info but why I can't beat this guy? (football-rumours.co.uk). What's the problem? Can help me?
Have you checked to see where your competitors links are located? Its not always about quantity, you also have to have quality backlinks. Have you looked at his content to see if you uses the keyword a lot or check his meta tags? He has the keyword in this URL as well and you do not, its just a little something extra for your competitor.
Yes, i have. most of his back links are already dead. I mean, many "dead" websites (didn't updated by its webmasters) providing links to him. I checked via backlinkwatch and he only got 643 back links. Most of those back links are from PR N/A. (which already dead) About keyword in football-rumours.co.uk URL, take a look into the competitor below me (footballrumours.info, ranked third in the same keyword), he got thousands of back links and also has the keyword in his URL but I beat him.
Hes keyword density within the body is way higher than yours. Try working on it for a bit and see the results.
Also, if that site already establish its name, tendency the viewers still keep on coming back to their site even if you ranked higher than him through that particular keywords..
Think it all comes down to age... Your's is only 4 months old and the other one nearly 5 years... If you ask me, I think it already is pretty remarkable you rank top 3...
he has the exact keyword "football rumours" in his domain name, and he also have an authority status.., its gonna be hard to beat him but its very possible.. i think i have a service that will help you beat him, normaly i work only with Seo companies but i'll do an exception for a Digitalpoint member, pm me if you are interested
You don't have the keywords next to each other anywhere on the page. http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cach...et/+football+rumours&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl=uk Also the first guy has the keywords as his actual site name, if he didn't rank first something would be wrong.
He has the searched keyword in his domain name, this is a major difference, so its will take a time to beat him.
I hope you can beat them. Their site looks, well, less than good (sucks). Yours is much better. On page/site SEO, quality backlinks (related content), lots of original content on your part (with good use of those key words in the content) all should be your focus on your part. Get some other sports rumour/rumor sites, especially soccer/football to rewiew/link to your site. I'd say, download SEO Search and some other SEO Firefox plugins and you can do some quick comparisons of keyword density, backlinks, and other things of the sites. I think you can do it.
Quality matters first and then Quantity I have realise that in many websites which have glitters and shining ads will never attract clikcers again
so you mean I must put that keyword more in my homepage? About domain name, I think footballrumours.info also has the keyword in his URL, but I beat him although he got thousands of back links.
