Well i'd say the amount of posts regarding pagerank etc has reduced by about 70% from back at the end of July. The majority of posts about this are complaints so the "buzz" as you call is not really that productive for google.

Its in peoples nature to moan and complain when something completely outside their control doesn't happen. You just wait for the update to occur and this thread will explode again with people saying the datacenters are all different, that PR is jumping all over the place and then comes further moans of "i didnt get the PR that i was predicted" -- thus is life!

So what? Googles does not care about webmasters at all.

Google needs just one type of webmaster: AdWords customers - if these customers would be ranked well in the SERPs they would spend less on AdWords. So it's better for Google hiding everything which might be relevant for SERPs. SEO is against Google's business.

To me it sounds quite obvious that Google will hide the PR sooner or later.

No Google also cares about data of our browsing habits it obtains from people using the Google Toolbar. Most people's primarly reason for installing the Toolbar is to view the Pagerank of pages as they browse.

Dropping visible Pagerank would mean people dropping the toolbar.

It would also open the doors for other companies to refine a similar scoring method, and toolbar to accompany it. If Yahoo fired up "WebRank" again and got it working properly, or "YahRank" it would be all the buzz and i don't see Google wanting anyone else taking the glory.

Hence i don't think visible Pagerank will vanish, change alot maybe.. but not be totally removed.

Links have been updated for this month in Google Webmaster Console. Still no new data concerning PageRank yet. Maybe tommorrow, but this has nothing to do with the TBPR export.

No - the Google Toolbar is pre-installed on every Dell, Acer, HP (and others) computer now. By default the PR display is not even configured on these computers (you have to go through settings and switch it on). So loosing a couple of users which may be interested in the PR display is not a problem for Google.

No - the only value of the PR display for webmasters is determining the effect of a backlink to the Google SERPs. Other companies cannot use the PR algorithm (it's under patent) and similar algorithms based on different crawler results cannot give the same information.
Additionally, <1 percent of users know PR at all - so it's a very small niche.

Yes, I agree with the above. But what does Google gain from dropping PR?

So you think the data from Webmasters & SEO's that voluntarily install the Toolbar and activate the Pagerank display isn't highly valuable to Google?

These are the people who game the system to manipulate rankings, and the reason Google constantly refines it's algorithms to circumvent this manipulation.

If you ask me, this data is highly valuable to Google.

Sure other companies can score a page based on their own calculations. The results don't have to be the "same" as Google, it can be a scale of 1-100 or even assigned a color through the spectrum from Blue to Red. As long as it's accurate, ie two pages from seperate domains measuring a score of 25 have the same/similar "authority" it will be a success in the absense of Pagerank.
