In a way Google is doing better than Yahoo or MSN: at least G offers Matt Cutts who occasionally explains what they are doing and sometimes even why.

For the first time ever, I can say I am really impressed with Google. I believe that they are pressing all the right buttons for all the right reasons and I believe that once they have had their fun everything might even return to normal. I see on the Directory section there is another one of those "I am desparate to pay $200 a year for a virtually worthless link". Somethings never change .

That's why Google is successful, they know what they are doing.

Google is hopeless we need another big player to compete with them. All the sites that use addwords are no-where to be seen in the top 20!!!! Funny that

    Bang on the money!

There are 20 spots on page 1 and only 10 of those are "free" - with ever more sites going live every day.

The foundation of everything Google does as a business relies on the quality of those top 10 organic results delivered to THEIR users.

They also want the 10 paid spots to be quality results too - (hint: quality score = lower cpc). This is becuase if users click on ads to crap sites too often they might stop clicking the ads in future.

So the bar is constantly being raised.

Google does not give a damn about webmasters "requirements" - and rightly so.

It amazes me how many people dont get this.

    Kemus is spot on.

Google is just raising the quality level to be on the frontpage its not saying that you can never ever achieve it, just work harder and actually concentrate on content and proper backlinks :)

From one perspective I think google is doing good work trying to keep its SERP results clean so that people find what they are searching for.

On the other hand I think they have too much of the market share; so when they make mistakes (which they do) a lot of businesses get affected and they seem too big to really care.

Come on MSN, Yahoo.... lets have some competition !

I tell you what gets my GOAT!

There is a rival company to many of us in the automotive industry and they have been spamming links for 9 months now, there have been multiple complaints and google have done nothing about it.

    Whats the deal with that.

This company has about 500 websites for their customers and at the bottom of each of those sites they have keyword stuffed in, its crazy!

Check this one out ww w.northbridge cars.co.uk

I inserted the spaces to avoid giving them a backlink

Google I am getting upset with your rules, dont make them if you dont stick to them!

What are your views on this everyone? Anyone else experiencing this kind of spam from competitors?

Why should they care for webmasters? They care for AdWords customers and for share holders.

How about replacing google with webmasters. Dont we expect more out of google all the time?

    • Wish
    • Want
    • Need
    • Dream

We belong to either of the above categories:D

haha, you beat me to it, was just about to reply to your first response.

Yes that is correct, and they have been doing this for a long time now.

Why does google let this happen on such a large scale. I can understand if it was just 1 website doing it, but spamming across hundreds of domains is not acceptable.

I would have agreed with you before google started taking money from us on adwords, now they have a responsibility dont you think?
