Isn't the Yahoo Directory Submission expensive?

I've noticed that Yahoo is being used more and more recently. It's definately a good idea to try and work to their search algorithm almost as much as google's.

That's true! It is expensive, but its really worth it! It gives a powerful backlink to your site. Even Matt Cutts of Google has recommended Yahoo Directory Submission!

Is it different than for Google? I think it's same for Google, what else you need to do for Yahoo other than Y directory submission? I also want higher ranking in yahoo.

    Thanks.

I can't find the link where he mentioned abt Yahoo Directory Submission. But I am pretty sure that he mentioned that. I remembered that cos being a Google Employee, he was promoting Yahoo!

Yahoo Gives more important to onpage factors like anchor text links, img alt, h1 and etc. whereas Google gives important to Bakclinks.

    I hope it helps.

My site ranks in the top 100 for many of my keywords. Some are in the top 10. I rank 0 in yahoo. It has been a year. Looks like I am banned from there. I guess yahoo has some kind of sandbox as well

Yahoo does have the paid inclusion into their directory for $299. They also have the free submission but theres no guarantee you will be listed and can take forever

In my experience, if you design the website well is easier to posicionate in yahoo or msn than google.

Yahoo love to see a well onpage optimized site with greater keyword density so if your site is lacking in on-page optimization then try to improve it also
if you have budget get paid inclusion at Yahoo directory. Hope this will help you :)

I find google actually easier to get top 10 on then yahoo, since the page rank on google all you need is backlinks and your search rank gets higher.

I've seen mixed results from a Yahoo dir entry. It definitely has never hurt, but every once in a while, a site will just fly up the rankings after getting it. Meantime, others didn't show noticeable results, not even much of a change in Yahoo search results.

I think it all depends on where your site is currently at. If it's got great links, but needs a little search engine trust, a yahoo dir link can do wonders. If your site isn't already somewhat established, the SERP improvement probably won't be very noticeable.

I think adding quality content and links for your site will help you get more traffic from yahoo. Submit your site in all big directories like dmoz, yahoo, Google and get as many quality links for your site
