Other ways to get backlinks than directories

    Hi there

I am looking for other ways to increase my backlinks. I regularly submit to directories but I seem to have listed myself in all of the free directories. I have also sponsored a couple of wordpress themes and PHPLD themes.

I would like to continue increasing my links although I am unsure what other options there are. I want these links to be free and feature anchor text if possible,

I have heard about blogging and commenting on peoples blogs but I am unsure how to go about this and how to find relevant blogs.

Anyones advice here would be great.

    Thanks

There will be several people posting with ideas so I will just name a couple.

Writing articles for article directories - I recommend submitting to only one directory then maybe following up with another later on.

Get blog owners with similar blogs to post a review about your site - or you can obtain blogroll links.

Forum signature links, press releases, affiliate program, content link exchanges, social bookmarking, offer something linkable on your site like a tool (linkbait).

thanks for the tips. Is there a way to find blog owners that will post a review? I am unsure how to find this out.

With reference to social bookmarking - is this something I can do myself? I didn't think there was much here I could do myself?

i would like to offer a tool but firstly, I do not have one and secondly I have no knowledge in what to create or how to create it.

Link exchange, I do this but only with very relevant sites.

Thanks a lot for the advice

There are blog writers offering reviews right here on DP

You can do social bookmarking (Digg, stumble etc) yourself. There are also DP members whoe exchange these.

The best way is linkbait. Here is a beginners guide.

Last month I worked for 20 minutes on some linkbait for a client, the article got a link from The Times as well as almost every popular tech blog.

Why people mess about with link exchanges and article submission is beyond me.

Yes, I'm very sure because I do it before. I do comment posting on blogs and I've seen some of my links on that blog in my webmaster tools. It is counted to my backlinks.

How do I go about finding blogs to comment on? And how do I then get my preffered Anchor text as a link?

I type my keywords on search engine and comment on related blogs. In some blog you can put your site URL.

don't waste your time putting comment on blogs. In the near future, it won't useful anymore.

Buy signature links from a lot of people.

For example, I'm selling my signature link for $6 a month. That'll get you 600 backlinks. Usually a good price to pay is 0.01 cents per post per month.

your best bet is exchange links and buy links (but only from the hidden one, i.e. part of article), don't buy sitewide links, it won't be good for a long term. Make sure your link seller doesn't have any word that related to "sell links" in his website.

Forum Signatures are another good way.

Hmmmmmm.. How about submitting articles on article dir(s) and bookmarking site(s).

Some people gives a good remark about that method. :)
