    Like the title says..

Anyone knows a free directory script for submissions with or without a website? (the url is not a forced field)

You can use the phpLynx script and turn OFF the requirement for a forced url, as you can with any other field. Hope this helps.

That's for the full version, there is a free version there that does exactly what you want. :)

Don't use the one at the link above, its outdated, you need to go to the forum to download the latest version.

    Thanks though sizzler. :)

You can also use PHPLD. Url option can be made optional in PHPLD.

Where? I'm looking at the admin area of version 3.2 of phpld as we speak, I can't see anywhere where you can switch off the forced url? Am I missing something here?

Try the free version of eSyndicat. It is possible in the paid version and the free one shares a good bit of the same capabilites.

Edit Edit Edit, that's all you seem to need to do with phpld, is bloody edit. What if your not a coder and don't have a clue? Solution is to go for something that does what it says on the tin, not something that claims to have the ingredients only for you to find out that when you buy the tin you have to 'ADD THE INGREDIENTS' to the content, that's assuming your can!

For goodness sake, the IP said he was looking for a directory script for submissions without a website, not for a script he needs to modify and hack to do it.

An encrypted script also has its inconveniences.

Anything you want to change that´s not in the tpls needs to be done for you.

Out of the box not a single script is exactly as one would like it so some editing will always be involved. ;)

And that´s only talking about the "technical part" of a script, as soon as one wants to changes it´s looks editing comes into play too.

See this is the part I don't get, what's the difference between support of an encoded script (FREE SUPPORT) and support of an open source script? Either way its someone else doing it for you.

The support for an open source script means that as time goes by there´s more and more info on how-to´s available. Thus enabling me to pick up ideas and to learn how to do things without even having to ask questions. Which makes me gain knowledge and allows me to understand better and better how to edit my code to achieve what I want.

But okay, that´s me, I like to learn and be less and less dependent of others and finally do things myself.

Virtually every unencrypted script has been successfully hacked. Being able to change things is great, but not when someone else can do it.

You´re saying that if I use an unencrypted script I will or at least might be hacked sooner or later?

Tell me one thing, why do people buy a directory script? To code or to use? Please look at the OP, it never asked 'What directory script would I need to hack the s*** out of to get it to do what I want it to do.

    What´s wrong with you,

Removing four lines of code as TS needs to do to be able to use PhpLd for what he wants is not exactly "hackin' the shit out of it", is it? :)

What's wrong with me? I got a scab on the end of my nose, I got a white eye and a walking stick. :D Point I'm making and your so desperately trying to defend, (you got shares in phpld?).

You shouldn't have to 'hack', 'gently modify' or anything, the OP didn't ask that question so stop trying to make it out he did please. And hey, even 4 lines of code to those who know nothing about it can be pretty daunting.

    No, not at all,

But I´m quite happy with the script and I don´t see any reason for someone to get so upset about the possibility to modify it just as one likes it to be.

Don´t forget that one perfect script doesn´t exist.
