Hey guys, what is the meta section for on wordpress? On my site i have a little heading called meta, then i have some links...site admin, logout, valid xhtml ect and i was wondering what are these? If they were normal links...shouldn't they be under the blogroll section?
    thanks

u answered your own question really

the meta section usually contains stuff like login/register link, valid html/css links, wp-admin and that.

blogroll links are for links to external sites.

so theres not much point in having a meta section if all the links are internal ones? I may as well get rid of it then, i thought it may have something to do with meta tags but obviously not. thanks

Yes, remove the Meta part from your sidebar. You don't really need it.

It's always a good idea to keep the area around. If you don't like META, call it something else but you need a place to put links such as login, RSS stuff, etc.

I guess if you really don't want to burn up the real estate in the sidebar with the META area, you could trun your RSS link into a button and/or move it somewhere else. If you don't need people to register, and you're the only one who logs in then you can put a link in the footer or remove it altogether. (One of my blogs I didn't have a link to the dashboard and it was a pain in the butt)

Maybe and "edit" link at the post is a good spot for the link to the dashboard.

I just type in my URL with wp-admin to log in.
If you don't allow users to register, it's better to remove the meta section.
