Zorg Links Bidding Directory - over 100 days old

Hi guys

When i first started this project, i said i would write about how things have gone and stuff.

You may remember the thread here where i wrote about starting the project. I got red repped, laughed at, called a noob, people said my project was BS and that i was just the same as all the other bidding directory owners.

Back to the present, heres some nice stats.

The site itself

The site itself is becoming more established. The amazing design work that aspidov did got the site voted the best designed phpLB site ever. I successfully launched a blog which is getting good views, where i am blogging about bidding directories several times a week. I am purchasing unique articles to gain search engine traffic and content. I have recently been buying, creating and releasing themes for free to increase link popularity.

Traffic

Traffic is booming right now. After spending over $300 this week on sig links traffic from DP has risen a lot. I have many paid banners about on webmaster sites like directorycritic and directory owners forum. Traffic is the priority -it means listed sites get good traffic sent through to them

Alexa

I have on of the best alexa ranks around in terms of weekly rankings. 3 month average now 91,653 which is very good compared with some phpLB sites. Daily average seems to be anything from 30-70k. Every week my 3 month average continues to fall.

Backlinks

Yahoo site explorer is showing over 19000 backlinks, with a few of those from EDU sites.

Google

Google rankings are booming :

rank 3 for bidding web directory

rank 2 for bidding directory

rank 4 for bid for position directory

rank 2 for link bidding directory

i could carry on all day but im sure you've seen enough

Page Rank

I had hoped that when writing about being 100 days old i would have some green bar stories to chat about. Forget iwebtool, here is my prediction.

A scan on my favourite backlink tool shows i have the following backlinks:

PR 0: 840
PR 1: 133
PR 2: 31
PR 3: 52
PR 4: 58
PR 5: 14
PR 6: 21
PR 7: 3


I am hoping for PR6. If not PR5 should be on. Im not too bothered about PR, just helps for selling listings at the minimum bid. People dont seem to want to buy a listing on a category page until they get PR. Hopefully category pages will turn PR5.

Prices

After fixing some phpLB bugs, the minimum bid is $20, minimum bid for an existing listing is $10. As for the $20, i feel there is nothing wrong with it. I have had several compaints about the price, just because 50 other bid dirs. set their price at $1 doesnt mean i should do. A general web directory charges around $25 for a regular listing, so why should a bid directory go for $1? My prices reflect the quality of the site, the strong backlinks, the good traffic, the high SERPs etc.


I think thats all to say. As its late i cant be bothered writing about why you should pay $20 for a PR0 link. Its not PR0, it would be PR5 or PR6 if google updated the toolbar every week.

The current top bid is $380 by beacon directory, which may change soon after Chris lets his party end and outbids him (if past occurances happen as i hope they do)

Depends on your investment. If you bidded $400 on was rank 7, you would still get good traffic and perhaps more sales on your site. I know the feeling. Its a hard choice to make.

Thats a recent update. Seems me and several other directories have stopped ranking high. Im sure it will settle down soon.
