Constructive criticism welcome. I am not a Graphics Designer so please keep that in mind. I have been trying to design a new logo for my site. It needs to convey the following words disgrace, bad, evil. The website is totaldisgrace.com and I am in the middle of a redesign. The overall theme of the website is disgraceful news / videos. I wanted a logo that conveys this in universal terms. When you look at this image, what do you think? Am I doing something wrong? Constructive criticism welcome.
The text is very simple and the color white really not applicable for the kind of website that you have. White color represent purity
The logo is pretty good. Make the text look a bit more 3d and polish it up a bit and you'll be in business.
I'd try removing the emboss from the horns/tail. It'd go better with the "flat" text, in my opinion. Or just make the text more 3D like the other member mentioned. Pretty good nonetheless.
I originally had the emboss removed on the tail and horns and it didn't look right. It just seemed flat (like the text, lol). I don't know if this version makes the text 3d or not. Embossing the text made it look strange. I am not in love with the reflection, but the drop shadow is nice. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I really appreciate them. I looked at webblazer's portfolio and was completely blown away by his logo design. Sure makes my logo look silly.
No, not at all. Don't put the reflection/drop shadow on it. It looks horrible. And what is that thing, a tail? Loose the bevel, pick better colors and make it look better. Take the pen tool, and pull out the e to make a tail, or put it on some other letter. It could look good if you tried. BTW, reflection=trend, bevel=1995, reflection+bevel+bad typography=peon.
LOL...I know I am not a pro, I agree. 'Pick better colors' is kind of generic. I like the idea about extending the 'e' to make a tail. I might give that a shot, if I can actually do it. I am not very effective with the pen tool. That reflection is probably gone as well. Once again, let me reiterate: I am a programmer, not a graphics artist.
I think the white BG needs some color. Otherwise it looks less like a banner and more like a text image. You're of to a good start though.
I'm not sure what is up with anyone. Trust me, it's getting worse the more you alter it. The first attempt was the best. Lose the bevel. It will look BETTER if it's flat with the text. The reflection, besides being not well done, looks terrible as well.
I agree that the first attempt was better. I'd like to see it without the bevel on the horns & tail... I like the idea of it...
Lol...I am really enjoying the contradicting comments. I guess the only thing I can guarantee is that I can't seem to please everyone. The reason the image was so wide was to place a banner ad next to it to see if it looked ok. Here it is without the bevel. Maybe I should just hire someone since I am not a pro. I think I need a pro to take this noob's design to the next level.
Looks good the way you have it here (definatly keep the text black), maybe try using a red to black gradient blend OVER the text. keep it suttle so its not overwhelming. my 2 cents
Ok, your logo is decent. You could use some touching up on the pentool part. My suggestions. LOSE. THAT. FONT. Look for something that MATCHES. You need something bulkier, more web 2.0. After that, choose two colors. Obviously, you want black and red, but switch that black for something lighter, try #333333 or #454545 something like that. Next, lose the stroke on your pentooling, that's making it look quite horrid. Otherwise, not bad.
I like the last version, you might want to change the font, and you should do a reflection but web 2.0 style. Don't do an outline as thick as in that tutorial, but the look i think is good -- sleek and shiny. I recommend you just take off the devil things and make a devil logo off to the side, they look a bit misplaced, but thats just my opinion.
