Hello Guys, I want to purchase .us domain name. I am not a US citizen. Can I have it? Is it against some law?
.US domains are for US residents, citizens & organizations only. http://nic.us/policies/docs/ustld_nexus_requirements.pdf
Yes but no one actually enforces this. At the very very worst you will lose the domain but its not illegal in the sense they will lock you up. Im in the UK and own LOADS of .us domains - just make sure the whois has a US address or is private.
Yes, you can still register a .US domain and your status fits the usTLD Nexus Category 3 that says; Source: usTLD Nexus Requirement ...please read for more details. If your website using a .us domain is hosted on a server located in the US then you're already legally conducting a business presence there. I have personally verified this deirectly from nic.us some few years ago. No worries, I'm Asian but I have few active .US websites and never had any problems since my 2002 registrations. No.. you're safe as long that you host the domain on a US server and conduct legal business in the United States. I hope this helps.... Good luck
