    *sigh*

I really wish people would learn to read.

One more time: Google will NOT "penalize" that site or you or anyone else for displaying links in that fashion - or for buying links on a site like that. All they will do, once they determine that a link is a purchased link, is prevent it from passing along PageRank. Google is NOT against advertising and not against text link advertising - they do it themselves. They are only against practices that artificially inflate Google search rankings. Nullify PR for those links - problem solved.

I feel really sorry for you:(
You have stated this fact atleast 5 times on this thread itself. But nobody cares to read pproperly.:(
Most probably, it will be a better idea to make a STICKY POST regarding PR/Text Links and how Google officially view them:)

    Cheers

You keep repeating your statement - but how do you know this is true?

They are not against paid links in general but againts "piad links for PR" agreed. But how do you know that Google will not penalize a site for selling links?

In the name of all that's holy, try to pay attention. Google, especially via Matt Cutts, has stated this very clearly repeatedly. It's not even a new policy. I include two summaries with commentary from SEO individuals outside of Google as well, in case you don't trust what Cutts says.

    One example:

Maybe you should just dictate what it is that you want people to understand to someone with some credibility, and have them say it. That would probably help.

Minstrel , i hate to break it to you but pagerank has almost nothing to do with search engine rankings. This data is even supported by looking at the first ten results of almost any keyword.

"Reputable sites that sell links won’t have their search engine rankings or PageRank penalized–a search for [daily cal] would still return dailycal.org. However, link-selling sites can lose their ability to give reputation (e.g. PageRank and anchortext). "

If this happens it will still benefit the site thats selling links as they can switch to just trading homepage links with another site. This way they get all the pagerank passed to them and no pagerank leakage. My opinion is that this is all talk and google wont upset their applecart as they really do need their webmasters. Imagine this:Google starts dissing webmasters and they start leaving in droves while yahoo and msn one day form some kind of partnership to tackle google and welcomes these droves of webmasters into its open arms. A bunch of skilled webmasters with years of selling experience placing ypn ads on their sites will be a huge difference in revenue. Sorry people but google does need its webmasters, a big percentage that also use its adword system.

Did you actually read the post, vandermar? I think I did just that, referencing three people (other than myself) saying the same thing. of course, I didn't reference you, which is what has your panties in a twist, but that's because I don't consider you an expert on anything except being obnoxious.

While you're at it, see the post just below yours:

I believe the PR has already updated and unfortunately many of us just believes it hasn't since we see our new sites having a PR of 0.

I have seen the PR of many of our competitor's site change (some up, some down) but mine only went from N/A to 0. I was hoping this was temporary but when I see other PRs change while mine changed to 0, I need to tell myself to move on and wait for the next update.

Hopefully I will have better luck the next update but most people see their PR change at the beginning of their site's life (from 0 -> something else) so maybe that's why most of us think the PR hasn't finished yet.

I hope I'm wrong but I'm planing as if the PR for my site won't update for another few months.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking about You.

Are you even paying attention to what telling you? No matter how simply it is, you will keep repeating the same statements over and over and over and over again.

Gosh, what uppity and high and mighty posting all around.

If a site has 503 paid links pointing to it, and the competition wants to hurt them, they can go to the effort of pointing out each of the paid links to google.. (quick backlink search, provide google with a page offering links for sale, and a page with links on it ) causing that site to lose 503 backlinks all in one shot, and i bethchya that's a penalty ;) .. Not in so much as we're going to penalize this page.. but more like..

You used to have 503 backlinks, now you have 3.
