I made the first page on Google for competitive keyword!

Hey guys,

I've been trying for about 2 months to make the first page on Google for the keyword 'internet date'. And I finally did it! Does anyone know of anyway I can capitalize off this or monetize it in some way?

It's good to see your site is gaining some popularity since the last time we spoke (you emailed me a few weeks ago).

I would definitely hold off on monetizing the site until you gain a little more traffic with the search engines. If you whore out the site for cash then you might scare away your visitors. And, your visitors right now are mostly new to your website, so you want to keep them coming back.

Keep the site looking professional and keep building appropriate backlinks.

2 months is good enough to be your keywords shows in first page especially when you are frequently doing social bookmarkings, directory submission and porum posting with signature.

@ logylaps, That brings in about 100+ hits per day. Only because the search volume for it is pretty high.

 

I think traffic is fair enough. The frequent your keywords crawled by bots the bigger the chances that you achieve what you are aiming for. That was also happen to my blogs. My blogs have less traffic but because of frequent update of contents it shows in first page.

Don't give out any other info publicly about your SERPs from here on out. There are a lot of people here that look for non-competitive markets that others (like yourself) work hard to target. Then they'll jump in and try to compete with you. Happens all the time.

In order to start getting ranked for numerous keywords at a time, high-authority backlinks are what you want. Your site needs authority to rank well in SERPs and backlinks are are the way to get it.

Id now go for "Internet Dating" and/or "Online Dating" because Internet Date isnt all that competative, and search volume isnt really "that high" at 100 a day. But good job so far.

 

I guess Google is lying.

 

There really isn't such thing as a keyword not worth targeting.

 

Great job. It's a nice feeling to see your site on the front page of a keyword that returns hundreds of millions of results.

Now keep at it for other keywords. Experience has taught me it's a good idea to rank high on a broad range of keywords.

Shows a small amount of people type in the actual phrase.

The actual phrase with the words following eachother has a smaller amount of results in Google than without the speech marks.

Excellent job none the less, especially if its bringing in traffic. I would add some affiliate links to larger online dating companies such as match.com and shaadi.com. (I've not checked out the aff. programes as of yet).

 

Nope not at all, Googles allintitle:internet date shows just 32,900 pages with the term in the Title.

Funny thing is, most of them are for Unix Timestamp related websites and various other "Internet Time" services.

I stand by what i say, and considering i'm top 5 for "SEO Company" and just 3 spots behind SEOmoz for the term "SEO" i have a fair idea what i'm talking about.

how old is your site age?

if it's new, google is giving a chace to all new web sites

 

how much traffic u get daily for that?

Sweetfunny is right. It is not a high competition keyword term.

Since I helped JDate.com initially with their SEO I would know too what I speak of.

However I will give you a tip, simply flip the keyword from internet date to internet dating.

Then move the term internet dating to far left in your <title> tag

Such as

<title>Internet Dating Free Online Date Website DateUnknown.com</title>

Once that is done go back and ask people to modify their backlinks to you.

That is almost correct.

What actually happens is new links will effect a websites rankings temporarily as Google has not had the chance to score them.

This will boost sites to the front page results but those will fall off after initial scoring and the links are dampered
