I run directories and one of the most important factors in selling directory links is PR.

My Google Webmaster says I have PR Medium. I'm guessing is a PR4 or 5.
I've tried exchanging links with some PR 3 webmasters. And because there's no PR update, they say "Sorry, we only exchange links with PR3 or higher". See? The PR update is not all about selling links for $$.

This is taking too long. Google may be increasing time between PR to discourage link buying.

IMO , the PR update happened , & all websites retained same PR as before.
I know this is a 1 in a zillion probability , but it is still a possibility.

What do you guys think ?

What I still don't understand is why there hasn't been any official mention of why the page rank update has been delayed. Surely Google must know that thousands of webmasters who depend on their livelihoods from the latest page rank updates, and the related webmasters whose sites also benefit from PR update, are wondering what is going on? This has turned into a business whether Google likes it or not so why leave so many people in the dark and guessing if page rank updates are a thing of the past or if some problem has happened? It doesn't make much sense to me.

The Head of PR at Google got head-hunted by me. $1 per each PR upgrade is doing by me now - individually - one at a time. I apologize for the inconvenience but I got 10x order than initially expected. Will get to you by 3007 latest :)

Seriously speaking, Google doesnt work for or care about Webmasters. They work for and care about individuals who are searching websites and pages that is relevant to search and content they perform on Google Search. The webmasters are themselves to blame for putting so much value on PR in the first place. Ofcourse this has turned into a business - but this business can drive Google out of business if webmasters continue manipulating the search results via paid link and other PR infringement. Hence they are having a long and hard think about the whole PR business and how to retain their No.1 Search Engine position before it becomes widely known that NO.1 spot on Google is more relevant to a webmasters work than the relevance of website itself - makes sense to me - what do you think?

I think they care, they didnt have to build webmaster tools to provide use with feedback you know.

Plus they are always asking what tools webmasters wouldl like, there was a poll on Matt Cutts blog.

They provide the webmasters tools etc for the genuine page ranking on google that may help a site achieve better ranking by enhancing their website structure and content BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY help Google provide more relevant search result. Essentially - the webmaster tools are to help Google themselves - not the webmasters.

I have still to come across a webmaster tool provided by Google that says 'How to increase your page rank' or Which Paid backlink will get you higher PR. Google doesnt care about anyone other than themselves and the individuals who search Google for related results - they dont even care about democracy crap or what not as far I have followed news on them, let alone the webmasters.

By the way - Google Killer - nice Moniker. :) I know the domain googlesucks.com is registered by Google themselves; wonder if yours still available.

    Thats not exactly true...
G cares about profit for its shareholders...
Before they were a publicly traded company your statement might have been more true.

And to facilitate their profits, they need to keep building attention to themselves so that publishers (aka webmaster) continue to use their advertising system. Surely they generate a great deal of their profits from revenues earned from those publishers displaying adsense ads on their sites. If they don't cater to us and give us something, like a little green (bar) every now and again, then publishers may opt for fresher and more enticing ways to make advertising profits on their sites. Digg.com is one example of a big name site that has recently dissed Google.
